I know I disappointed many today with my initial answer on how I would have voted on Brett Kavanaugh. I will make mistakes and always own up to them. The priority is defeating Mitch McConnell.

I was asked earlier today about Judge Brett Kavanaugh and I answered based upon his qualifications to be on the Supreme Court. But upon further reflection and further understanding of his record, I would have voted no.

(32,640 posts)you are a WAFFLER/PANDERER.
If you are, however, that one particular candidate, then it's called "evolving."

(111,103 posts)She could not possibly be for Kavanaugh and be acceptable.
There can be no learning curve.

(7,412 posts)Impressive. Trump won KY by 30% in 2016, she will be lucky to get within 15% of McConnell in 2020 regardless with Trump on the ticket again.

(43,416 posts)smashed as he self-suppressed his own Democratic voting base. Bad start for McGrath, hopefully she makes no more mistakes like this.

(111,103 posts)It actually may gain her votes.
Doesn't sit well with DUers though.

(43,416 posts)Rethug voters will not switch (certainly not in any great numbers), and some in our base are now pissed off. Hopefully this is long forgotten by the time November 2020 rolls around (IF McGrath is even the nominee).

(18,486 posts)If she wants to beat McConnell, she can't rely on Republicans to vote for her.
She's not going to beat him by being promising to vote like him but just do it more collegially. And while she doesn't have to turn into AOC, she definitely can't expect to beat him by being a slightly more liberal version of him. Just ask Alison Lundergan Grimes.

(15,334 posts)Where 67% of voters would be excited to send their underage daughters to an Epstein/Kavanaugh hosted kegger where Donnie Shit for Brains would be the guest of honor.
She's going to make some mistakes. It's hard to appeal to toothless morons who sit around all day chugging beer and bragging about how good their sisters are in bed

(18,486 posts)She should have been prepared for this question and known how to answer it.
She needs to up her judges game if she's going to successfully take on McConnell. At least this happened early, but she can't afford many more of these missteps.

Ideas about our #1 objective: Beating Mitch McConnell?
Dang folks, stop the circular firing squads. These purity tests are killing us!
