An observation about US healthcare

Comment found on YouTube

Im totally baffled by the selfish US thinking that says your health depends on your wealth, in Europe where Democratic socialism is the norm, it would never occur to us to not support our fellow citizens when it comes to health, we take it as a moral right. Money should not be the main consideration when it comes to saving life. I find it quite ironic that in the US where pro life sentiment for the unborn is so active but they do not extent that to the living, what kind of moral gymnastics is that ??? .... Only in America

And like all industries in a capitalistic system, profit is the main goal.

And given that most US citizens grew up under this system, it is familiar. But it is ranked 37th for a reason.

the "we" society versus the "me" society. In the "we" society, healthcare is available to all while in the "me" society it's I've got my healthcare, good luck in getting yours...

I had a stroke in February, between the hospitals, doctors and insurance company I am completely lost. The neuro-surgeon says I am unable to return to work and the insurance company "clerk" says that I should be at work and will not pay my short-term-disability funds due to me. It has been over 3 months without any income, I cannot afford medications next month, this is BS!!!

Especially when many of them want to prevent abortion even in high-risk situations where taking the pregnancy to term could well result in the death of both the woman and fetus.

It has much more to do with controlling women than being "pro-life".

As for healthcare, if ever there was a situation that screams for "socialism", it's in the handling of infectious diseases. Why on earth would the rich want the rest of the population to become a giant Petri dish that creates a disease that could kill even the rich?

The rich benefit immensely from at least that portion of heslthcare being socialized.

Lol, they mean social democracy, there are no socialist (democratic or otherwise) nations in the EU.
