So, when the Republiban delegates chanted "USA! USA" at that Puerto Rican GOP woman

Why didn't anybody march up to the microphone and say "guys! knock it off! She's a party official! and we need to carry Latino voters if we're gonna win this fall. What you're doing right now is costing us votes!"?

Second, this Republican party thinks that if they can just make the nation a little more racially pure, then everything will be alright. The one thing the rank and file does not do is really understand that the nation is changing rapidly. I see it in my own family. I grew up in a river town settled only by white people and with an ordinance on the books that any black person had to be out of town by sunset--and this was in Illinois. Only when civil rights legislation passed was that ordinance removed. Much has changed since then, and the reality is that the barriers are still being removed in spite of the efforts of these people to shore them up. I plan on chipping away at the citadel of privilege in any way I can.

They were shouting down the Paulites that were chanting about how they just got fucked by the establishment. It had nothing to do with her at all.

This premise is one of the stupid lies on our side.

This is one of those events that looked worse than it actually was.
But it was still rude, no matter who was trying to get onstage and speak.

to protest the treatment of Paul??? Why not "Ron-Ron-Ron" or "Fraud-Fraud-Fraud" or something at least arguably relevant to their complaint? No, they chanted that because a Hispanic speaker with a pronounced accent was at the mike, and their xenophobic little hearts couldn't stand it. "By God, we'll show her - USA!! USA!! USA!!!"

... might have been saying. Then the main crowd started "USA" to drown them out. "USA" is their go-to chant, and it revs up quickly and loudly. I wish it were that they were being openly anti-Latino, but I don't think so in this case.

could have imagined a bunch of right wing goopers shouting "USA" at an accented Hispanic speaker. My bad.

Not in exactly those words, but he did have to step in and take the mic to calm them down.
