Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, trashed Donald Trump is a scathing OpEd in the NY Times titled titled It Is Not Enough To Condemn Trumps Racism, explained that the only way to push back is to be unequivocal about our values. The Minnesota lawmaker said Trumps campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina in which his supporters chanted to send her back will be a defining moment in U.S. history.
She continues, Throughout history, demagogues have used state power to target minority communities and political enemies, often culminating in state violence, Omar wrote. Today, we face that threat in our own country, where the president of the United States is using the influence of our highest office to mount racist attacks on communities across the land.

(31,517 posts)Trump ran for office because he was pissed off at Obama. He doesn't understand the concept of public service, just pride and power.

(18,124 posts)The eventual Democratic candidate must have policy substance, but people don't elect the president on policy. It's about character. Most Americans are not racist and don't want to vote for someone who's an overt racist like trump. Our candidate must convey why he or she exemplifies American values and play up the difference against trump's blatant racism.

(16,786 posts)They all should because I suspect that the subject will come up. Amy Klobuchar is a constituent in the 5th CD. Rest assured she will comment.
Biden addressed it when his announcement video came out and has continued to mention it.

(27 posts)ignoring, optics-obsessed corporate national media to stare into the abyss and perhaps tell the nation of the truth of what lies in the Mueller report on Trumps many provable felony crimes.

(58,785 posts)(deflecting LW hostility away from Democrats) suggests she's not a LW extremist like those men acting as Justice Democrats/Brand New Congress, to which she belongs, and may eventually even have to separate from them. She also recently spoke up for representative government and against trying to overset the will of local voters. Very encouraging.
