This is only part of their strategy too.
I will anyway of course (democrat). But I am extremely concerned.
If we don't do more to protect our elections it will only cause more confusion and loss of
autonomy.

(2,559 posts)An impeachment inquiry is entirely appropriate at this time. This administration has shown over and over it can't be trusted to investigate itself. The Dems took back the House, and launching an impeachment inquiry under their authority is the best way to expose Donny's crimes. He will have a far more difficult time stonewalling their subpoenas and tax return requests. Not that he won't try, because he knows just how damaging the information will be to his reign of error.
If he does happen to win re-election (perish the thought), the information gleaned from the inquiry can be used to justify an impeachment vote. If he loses, the need for impeachment is gone, and his fate will probably rest in the hands of New York State.

(32,645 posts)If there is any discrepancy between the two files, they assume the drivers license file is correct and therefore the voter registration must be out of date. The out-of-date voter registration gets deleted. Reasons for discrepancies: name difference, address difference, maybe somebody died or failed to renew their license. Maybe you registered to vote as "Bob" Jones but your DL has you as "Robert" Jones. Guess which one they deleted?
The thing we need to understand is that they're doing this to everyone, not just voters who are registered Democrats. However city dwellers are much more likely to have moved in the last 2 years, and they're also more likely to be Dem/liberal voters.
If anyone finds out they've been deleted from voter registration, it's an easy thing to fix. You can re-register online but you'll be asked to show ID the next time you go to vote. I usually have my US passport with me when I vote, just in case. But I haven't been asked to show ID for the last 24 years.
Here's how you can check to make sure you're still registered to vote:
(link) https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/
SCROLL DOWN to your state and enter your info. (Privacy is assured - it's totally safe)

(11,316 posts)YES .. important take away .. this is EASY to fix. DON'T be discouraged. You can check your registration or re-register at any time. (#22 has good links). Many states also have "same day" registration that you can do right there at the polls. And in almost all cases, if you DO run into a snafu at the polls, you will be allowed to cast a provisional ballot .. that will be counted after they sort out the confusion. YOU HAVE A RIGHT!

all democrats have to do to is enough boycotting and protesting of the 88 universities that support 260 limbaugh stations to get the advertising industry's notice. they will have to start asking advertisers if they really want to support trump, global warming, and racism etc.. the ad industry will have to stop bundling clients onto those stations and market demand with break up the artificially propped monopoly.

(1,414 posts)I encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote, and I'll be doing the same. However, I believe vote totals were altered in the last election and that the same is going to happen again. You don't have to believe this, I do. Further, I think, even if somehow those vote totals officially show trump having an electoral loss, I don't see that man leaving office peacefully. Again, this is not something I'm asking you to believe or accept nor do I feel it necessary to try to convince you of it. This is, however, the basis from which I operate. Therefore, I have no faith that the ballot box will relieve us of this tyrant, I do have faith, however, he will be removed by means other than the ballot box.

(1,414 posts)and I'm most certainly voting for the Democrat (except for one, which because of DU rules I will not mention), but the reason I have zero faith is quite simply I do not believe trump won that election. I believe vote totals were actually changed. I have no faith in a fair and honest election, but I still have faith that America will do the right thing.

https://thinkprogress.org/states-purged-16-million-voters-from-the-rolls-before-the-2016-election-1c5688dcaad7/
States purged more than 16 million voters from the rolls between 2014 and 2016. That number, calculated in a new report published Friday by the Brennan Center for Justice, is a significant increase from previous years and an indication that large numbers of eligible voters are likely being disenfranchised by inaccurate and unlawful voter roll maintenance.
The report comes just a few weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Ohios voter purge system, clearing the way for more states to move forward with the types of purges that disproportionately impact low-income and minority voters.
For the two years before the 2016 election, the number of purged voters across the county increased 33 percent over the two years before the 2008 presidential election, according to the report. The increase in purged voters was most significant in parts of the country with a history of racial discrimination that, until the Supreme Courts Shelby County v. Holder decision in 2013, were required to seek pre-approval of changes to their voting laws from the Department of Justice.
The report, which examined purge data submitted to the Election Assistance Commission, found that states historically subject to preclearance were purging voters at a higher rate than other states. If the jurisdictions with a history of discrimination had purged voters at the same rate as other jurisdictions, 2 million fewer voters would have been removed from the rolls from 2012 to 2016.

(288 posts)It is easy to find out if you are registered to vote. If you are not registered (never did register or were purged or moved since the last election), then get registered!
Voter suppression only works if we let it work.
FakeNoose
(32,645 posts)... and that's what they have to do after they've re-registered. The Repukes are betting that this voter purging is going to cause at least some Democratic/liberal voters to drop out of eligibility.
Maybe the purged voters won't find out until it's too late to re-register. Or they'll re-register online and not be able to show ID when they vote. Or maybe they'll just skip it altogether because it's a PITA. Not all purged voters will be Democrats, however the bet is that more of them will be Dem/liberal and therefore Repukes win!
We need to counteract this strategy with our own. We need to register as many 18, 19 and 20 years old as possible - they are much more likely to vote with the Democrats. Reach out to women who are genuinely concerned about the sexual assaults and gender discrimination of the GOP - so many women will vote against Chump next year because of it. What about people with young families who are genuinely upset with the caging of children and separating families of immigrants at the border? These people will likely vote against the GOP. What about environmentalists, people who care about public education, science, the humanities, helping the poor and hungry? There are so many people who are motivated to vote AGAINST Chump and the GOP. Maybe they won't join our Party, but that's OK. We have a big tent.

(4,150 posts)Arkansas from 2012-2015. . . Sorry to any Arkansans on here, but it was really quite awful.
To start with, I supposedly registered to vote at a DMV where I registered upon arrival in Little Rock, the biggest city in the state.
The DMV just so happened to be in a neighborhood with a heavily African American population, so one can infer that most voters in that neighborhood were Obama supporters.
I registered in June 2012 and then checked the status of my registration in September 2012, as I had not received my voter registration card. I was informed then that all voters who had registered to vote at that particular DMV had been "disqualified" as "proper instructions" on registering voters had not been given to the person who registered voters. I asked what that might be, and evidently the person registering voters had failed to ask us if we were of "sound mind" when we registered thus nullifying our registration and thus our ability to vote for Obama.
It was only after phoning a voters' rights organization that we were allowed to vote. It was more than infuriating to be told by some foolish, lying redneck that this particular DMV hadn't been targeted for its demographics. Yeah, right. All I can say is that i am glad as FUCK I don't live there anymore.

(4,393 posts)three times in 6 months in order to assure my right to vote in the past because of ID requirements. They also claimed I did not return a notice of polling place as requested so I had to vote provisionally. I may have requested an Absentee Ballot that year though I can't seem to remember. Now I check my registration status at least once every month or two.
The big question for me now is if I want to wait until the expiration of my current photo ID drivers license at which time I'll need verification paperwork to get the new and improved version or to go get that new and improved "verified" version voluntarily before the license expires before the election. Either way, they now mail the new photo-ID license, whether the improved version which is available or just a replacement of the less advanced license - No on-the-spot licenses are presented at the DMV anymore. Mail service being what it has been in our complex of residency, I use Informed Delivery. Still haven't received an important mailing three days after it was scanned in this City/State that elected that oompaloompa and only one Dem senator to Congress. Hmmmm...

(740 posts)We have a year to address this and get our people back on the voter rolls. We have enough time if we get to work on it now. The question is will we get to work on it or spend our time wring our hands and doing nothing. With all the extra candidates we have running they should be working on this now or at least after they drop out put their staff to work on it. The DNC should already be aware of this problem and be addressing it. Are they?

(54,770 posts)People who have not voted in last one or two elections or have moved are the most likely to be removed from the voter rolls.
Even in my red state, you have to go 7 years without voting and answering at least one inquiry from the election board, to be removed in a particular district. Of course, most people purged simply moved and reregistered in another district, and didn't notify their previous district.
