Fact checking and calling a lie a lie is important now

Must ramp up the push back on the Romney/Ryan lies and continue without letting up. Have to enforce the general opinion that they continually lie now that the public is starting to tune in. If we can make that connection now, when they really gear it up later in the campaign (October Surprise) we'll have a much better chance to counter them with facts.

If we can parlay this media awareness into a true rapid reaction/truth squad, they will be denied their biggest weapon and no amount of money will make their real policies palatable to the voters.

Not "misinformation" or "misleading" or "dishonest."

If someone lies, say they LIED.

If they lie repeatedly, they're LIARS.

You've noticed that none of the TV talking heads seem to be talking about Romney's tax returns anymore. That's not because he actually produced them, no, he just outwaited them.

While the tax returns were the "topic du jour of the day" Rep Akin came out with his idiotic views on rape and all our ace reporters chased after the new shiny object. Now nobody is talking about Akin, rape, or the general attitude of the republican party toward women. "Ryan lied" is now the big issue. Even though a small segment of the press is making the claims, they will eventually be distracted by something else and nobody except the few citizens who actually give a rats ass will even remember that Ryan lied.

So I don't hold out a lot of hope that the press will follow up on this. If the Obama campaign doesn't hit it hard now it will be forgotten in a week or two.

Once it is comfortable to call out the lies, it becomes a full fledged part of the political discourse during this election cycle. It has to become unacceptable to not call out the lying. Anyone that doesn't call out the lies must be viewed as "unserious" and we all know how much the villagers want to be seen as serious.

get people to really make that connection in their heads.

This is potentially better than the taxes. But still, WHERE ARE MITT'S TAX RETURNS??
