The local Nextdoor web site just posted this:
Worth noting he told police he was watching a house - that happened to have a handmade anti-Trump sign in the window.
A xxxxxx neighbor contacted xxxxx council member xxxxx on 8/5. She replied the same day after having talked with (precinct police inspector) who let her know that a # of steps have been taken to respond to this situation, including the 'safe keeping' of the individual's guns until a very thorough background check is run, alerting all officers in the precinct about the details of this incident, an investigation by the weapons unit, and, this statement: "We encourage anyone who notices that the suspicious vehicle involved in this incident has returned to the neighborhood to call 911 and tell the call taker that firearms were recovered from the suspicious vehicle on 8/2 as the driver was parked in the neighborhood. Officers will make contact with the driver and occupants and assess the situation."
This was about six blocks from my house. They're everywhere.

(2,331 posts)He is warming up the band with his rhetoric. When he finds out he is behind in the polls (if he believes it) he will literally engage in the most divisive irresponsible language that he can think of.
It is not going to be pretty.

(31,261 posts)The now likely realize that messing up the mail in a deep blue South Florida likely gave them a governor's chair and a US Senate seat. Expect them to send out threats about packages in the mail into post offices in blue areas. That is a big reason why I believe voting by mail or absentee in a competitive state is insane, vote in person, early if possible.
There will be physical violence from them on roads and in public spaces, so we need to be on the lookout for that.

(24,654 posts)Entrapment, I believe, is getting someone to commit a crime they would otherwise have been unlikely or unwilling to commit. But someone better versed in the law can correct me on this point if need be.
I can't imagine legally parking a car that looks like any other that would be in that area, with an indication of a political preference, would be entrapment. If it looked wildly out of place and over the top...maybe? But if it looked pretty much like any other with a bumper sticker or two, I don't see how it's presence would be tricking someone into committing a crime they wouldn't otherwise commit. Interesting question.

(31,261 posts)There are more registered democrats statewide, but in my red county, republicans lead DEMs by around 50%. The people here are more moderate, but I never know when I will come across a hyped-up psycho.
Pacifist Patriot
(24,654 posts)I don't think the GOP lead is quite that high in my FL county, and the people are fairly moderate. But I've also seen some super-Trump supports I wouldn't trust to not flip out. There's one guy who drives around all day in this weird bicycle-type contraption festooned with Trump banners. Would not want to be alone with that guy!

Stalking is not taken lightly in most neighborhoods these days and events like this are not looked at positively by employers.

(3,256 posts)Having spent 45 or so years in Minneapolis I know the cops have his dope and every squad wil be looking for him. These peopel are just cowards and bullies. he might get his shit back eventually after a whole lot of red tape and "missing papers" No cop wants to have to deal with a heavily armed and dangerous lunatic. He wiill stay out of town. A cop can write tickets endlessly. Oh, failure to signal, not coming to a full stop etc. I estimate the average driver is guilty of a ticketible offense about every 3 blocks. I am sure the FBI has been called and a file has been started.

(11,949 posts)Our party platform calls out support for the second amendment. With tons of calls for heavy regulation like a renewed AWB.
Where I grew up everyone owns guns. And most everyone hunts. Nationally its seems a divided issue because so many democrats live in urban environments. Owning a gun makes no sense. Even more so on DU. And I get it.
But in the south and Midwest gun ownership is not a partisan issue. Gun worship is!
I have evangelical family members who with a straight face will tell you jesus wants his followers to own guns. And I am not bullshitting. I have heard it and will again in a few month when I visit family. The are batshit crazy and there is no winning them over.
And everyone of them also believes god sent trump and if you dont support him you soul is at risk for eternal damnation. They think they are on a mission from god. It will get worse before we vote him out.

(146,329 posts)Why? Because we have Xfinity hot spot WiFi enabled. I watch them. They pull over to the curb and use their devices. A lot of real estate people with magnetic signs on their doors, and others, as well.
I could turn it off, but I know I've used others Xfinity hot spots myself. It's a separate system on the modem that is not connected to our network in any way. I think the idea is that enough people enabling this feature will help provide WiFi access in most places. I'm for that, I suppose.
Anyhow, I quit worrying about cars parking in front of my house for a few minutes.
