"Trump didn't actually win the election in 2016" -Jimmy Carter

This was posted on CNN on June 28

Jimmy Carter suggests Trump is an illegitimate president

Washington (CNN)Former President Jimmy Carter suggested Friday that a full investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election would show that Donald Trump didn't win the presidency.
"There's no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the election. And I think the interference, although not yet quantified, if fully investigated would show that Trump didn't actually win the election in 2016. He lost the election and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf," Carter said at the Carter Center's retreat in Leesburg, Virginia.
Asked if he believes Trump is an illegitimate president,
Carter paused for a moment.
"Based on what I just said, which I can't retract," Carter said to audience laughter.

Special counsel Robert Mueller's report found that Russia waged a "sweeping and systematic" influence campaign during the 2016 election with the goal of electing Trump, but did not establish a conspiracy between Trump's campaign and Moscow.

They think I'm a crazy conspiracy theorist and push against me every time I say anything about Russia stealing our elections. They say, Oh, Hillary - or too many people stayed home- or even mention voter suppression but they absolutely refuse to believe that the election was stolen for it's favored tool by a hostile foreign nation. They say there's no proof. I say the victors' write history and there has been no real investigation ever of voting discrepancies or voter database intrusions and changes. If they got into the database, why would they do that and do nothing there? Doesn't make sense to me.

Carter could tell us a thing or two about all this, I'm sure.

But like the October Surprise inflicted against him (and the hostages), he knows what happened - but also knows he can't say anything.

Not good for "national security" (read: security for GOPee bigwigs).

Republicans cheated by voter suppression in those states.

We KNOW that. There is PROOF.
Let’s just stick to that for now.

If other things come out that show Republicans stole the election a different way, we can talk about that then.

41. Why? The RepubliCONS are known to be accepting money from once sanctioned Russians
Thu Aug 15, 2019, 10:42 AM
Aug 2019

RepubliCONS have accepted economic support from Russian factories controlled by Putin throughout our country. They have accepted advertisement support from Putin as in Facebook and Twitter. They have accepted Russian provided dirt and stolen information on their opponents. All Russian sanctions are being ignored so Russia can come right back and do it all again. Trump and Moscow Mitch have actively blocked all voter security measures.

RepubliCONS Do NOT deserve the benefit of a doubt. They show no indications they did NOT collude with Russia to rig vote counts. We are just assuming they didn't rig vote counts, like we are assuming RepubliCONS are patriotic and want to support democracy. Until Wikileaks released Hillary's campaign info, there was no indication Russian spies had hacked her campaign computers either. There was no indication Wikileaks was in collusion with Putin.

The US is being attacked by a foreign power and people are shrugging their shoulders saying we can't definitely prove Russia dropped those bombs falling all around us.

You can't prove anything with absolute certainty. In a battle you can always wait for more info to act, and waiting gives your enemy the advantage. So, you have to decide when do you have enough info to act in the battle. And it is never absolutely clear info. This is a war not a calmly legislated legal trial. Waiting gives your enemy the advantage.

When the founders of the U.S. Constitution in 1787 considered whether America should let the people elect their president through a popular vote, James Madison said that “Negroes” in the South presented a “difficulty … of a serious nature.”

During that same speech on Thursday, July 19, Madison instead proposed a prototype for the same Electoral College system the country uses today.

I don't know if he feels he knows something more now, though, but for a man long retired he hasn't exactly been assertive and out front on what he thinks happened 3 years ago. Was his first concern continuation of the peaceful transition of power we must have?
