Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Treated Again For Cancer

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has just completed three weeks of radiation treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the U.S. Supreme Court disclosed Friday.

The radiation therapy, conducted on an outpatient basis, began Aug. 5, shortly after a localized cancerous tumor was discovered on Ginsburg's pancreas. The treatment included the insertion of a stent in Ginsburg's bile duct, according to a statement issued by the court.

Doctors at Sloan Kettering said further tests showed no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. The treatment comes just months after Ginsburg was operated on for lung cancer last December. The 86-year-old justice has battled cancer in various forms over the last 20 years.

"Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg today completed a three-week course of stereotactic ablative radiation therapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City," a statement from the Supreme Court read. "The focused radiation treatment began on August 5 and was administered on an outpatient basis to treat a tumor on her pancreas. The abnormality was first detected after a routine blood test in early July, and a biopsy performed on July 31 at Sloan Kettering confirmed a localized malignant tumor.

"As part of her treatment, a bile duct stent was placed. The Justice tolerated treatment well. She cancelled her annual summer visit to Santa Fe, but has otherwise maintained an active schedule. The tumor was treated definitively and there is no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. Justice Ginsburg will continue to have periodic blood tests and scans. No further treatment is needed at this time."

And I SOOOOOO don't want her to. I think she knows there's SOOOO many people who feel the same, and she's soldiering through for US, and because of her love of this Country and its people.

3 Cheers for The Notorious R.B.G.!!!

Hang in there baby, only 1.5 years to go!

5. Yes. And if not, we need TWO new seats for each Trump nominee

The next president, a Dem, should create four new seats on the court: two to cancel out Kavanaugh, two to cancel out Gorsuch.

Trump stole the election with GOP voter suppression, criminal acts, and a lot of help from the Russians. He's illegitimate. So are his judges.

Justice Ginsburg underwent a biopsy, completed a 3-week course of stereotactic ablative radiation therapy and received a bile duct stent, but the tumor was not removed via surgery as a previous tweet reported.

15. A few reasons,,,

It could be small enough that treatment could handle it

Could be in a place that not all of it could be surgically removed.

I am not sure how much of the OP article needed to be corrected, aside from the NYT correction on twitter than I referred to.

No more Filibusters, no more Status Quo, no more business as usual.

I don't see how RBG makes it to January 2021...

11. Without reclaiming the Senate the only packing that will occur is when

our nominees pack their bags and go home from DC after waiting for a confirmation hearing that will never come. As long as the Rethugs keep hold, even if we get 8 straight years of POTUS control, Moscow Mitch and his successors will never approve a Dem nominee again unless it is a RWNJ that they pick for us.

12. Yes, it will take a Dem Senate with a courageous majority leader (not Schumer)

As well as a bold President who believes in taking significant, aggressive action to right the wrongs of the Trump era, including packing the SCOTUS using a filibuster-free senate. The first 18 mos. of the new President's term should make FDR's First 100 Days pale in comparison.

Just Say No to the Status Quo.
