$4.5 million a day, or $755 per person per day.

That’s what taxpayers are shelling out to detain families on the border. To a logical person, we could put these families up in extremely nice hotel rooms for that much. The Ritz-Carlton in NYC goes for $795 a day and I hear they supply shampoo, soap, showered and everything! Wonder who is making all the money off these detainees. Haven’t heard it discussed, but would be interesting to know.

Not only is it completely immoral on humanistic grounds, but it is immoral financially as well.

The US taxpayers are footing the bill of $4.5 million dollars per day to keep innocent children unfairly detained in cages with sub-standard amenities and care. Who is profiting from this and where is the outrage?

I remember one scene from Schindler's list. The Jewish prisoners were sitting at desks sorting items the SS had stolen from Jewish (and other) families.

The next shipment is delivered and it is gold teeth, extracted from the corpses prior to cremation at places like Auschwitz.

If you recall that scene, the Jewish prisoners stared in disbelief at the large pile of gold teeth. Then, slowly, they began sorting them, counting them, that they might be listed and so add to the wealth of people like Hermann Goering and Joseph Goebbels.

They were slime, and we now have our own slime.

snip...

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (a department of DHS) contracts with private security corporations to run some of the 250 immigrant detention facilities across the U.S. The two most profitable private companies contracted to manage detained immigrants include The GEO Group and CoreCivic (previously known as Corrections Corporation of America). Each has its own cozy history with the federal government.
The lobbying arm of GEO Group spent $1.56 million on lobbying in 2018, deploying only lobbyists who previously worked in government. It also contributed $275,000 to pro-Trump super PAC Rebuilding America Now in 2016. CoreCivic followed closely behind in its lobbying expenditures, shoveling out $1.23 million in 2018, and also giving $378,000 in contributions (93 percent went to Republican candidates).
These lobbying efforts come as the companies rack up massive profit from government contracts.
GEO Group and CoreCivic receive multi-million dollar contracts from DHS to run detention facilities. Since 2017, ICE has signed over $450 million worth of contracts to GEO Group, and $280 million to CoreCivic, according to USAspending.gov. The more people locked up in detention facilities, the more money private contractors receive. In a 2019 budget proposal, ICE estimated a bed in a privately contracted detention facility to cost $148.43 per day.

This is criminal and should be a matter of record. However, I don't know where to look for the information. With this administration, it's probably redacted, anyway.

I would bet a dime to a donut that Trump is getting a cut in some way.

It would also be interesting to know what the foster parents are receiving across the country. I saw one count of how many homes are being used for foster care which was huge, but there was no information on beyond as to cost. There are also many child centers that are being used across the country, but you never hear anything about them.

This venture has to be one of the most expensive we've seen from any administration except for the stupid wars the Repukes started on a credit card.

all the plans for these centers were "in the works" before Agent Orange entered the WH. Moscow Mitch knew months ahead of time that the fix was in, when he refused to allow a vote on Merrick Garland for the SC. tRump and family treat the treasury of the US like their own personal piggy bank. Ivanka was given a grant for $100 MILLION to promote women in business world wide. How about the women in THIS country getting help with business? Who is keeping track of that 100 Million??

Keeping them locked up for years. They are taking milllions out of our economy that is given to enforcement and cages. They are using the money to give to those for trump. He is building his own army . I believe trump is getting his share too. When he comes for ss tell him to tear down the cages. We are being ripped off bad by this scheme. It needs to. Stop. Where is the 4 billion the house money from Nancy to give them toothbrushes. Trump
