I have to admit it was refreshing to hear a dyed-in-the-wool tea-bagger go after the orange aberration on Morning Joke this morning (at 38:22).

(70,242 posts)everyone of his faults (let the Maga crew do that). The target is Trump and energy should be devoted to getting him OUT of our Oval Office!

(63,221 posts)He's got what it takes to go after Trump and be effective at it. He can be just as obnoxious and aggressive as Trump, but he's quicker and smarter (I know that's not saying much, but he comes across as much more articulate). I think he has the potential to sway a lot of right-wing voters away from Trump. They may not vote for a Democrat, but as long as they don't vote for Trump, he's doing us a favor.

(5,754 posts)It's a point he can make. Fiscal responsibility used to be a Republican thing. Now, it's not. What else do they have to run on? Outright racism?

(14,566 posts)they only are "all about the deficit" when there is a D POTUS 100% out of power crazed lunacy - one, because it sounds good to the idiots in their base, but strategically because it ties the hands of the D POTUS and hampers his her ability to do things to improve the country, it is all about holding him or her back from any success to point to, and for them to say they didn't do anything. Past that, they just are hateful scumbags who use the whole process to attack the social safety net.
I was ALWAYS bullshit, and until this country wakes up and recognizes it, and sees them as the mercilessly corrupt and mean spirited scumbags they are, we can't get things going in the right direction again.

(37,161 posts)...when, in 1990, Bush41 signed an omnibus tax bill that raised income tax rates (a little) from the unsustainably low 1986 rates (which all the Republicans spoke reverently about when passing the Trump tax cuts).
And conservatives crucified him, for it. Day in and day out they foamed at him for going back on his "read my lips, no new taxes" pledge because he felt doing so was fiscally responsible.
But by then, they'd already ousted any Republican who thought keeping revenues in line with expenditures was a good thing, because actual fiscal responsibility amounted to treason against "tax cuts now, tax cuts tomorrow, tax cuts forever" radical conservative orthodoxy.

(11,738 posts)I do agree that it is something that maybe Walsh can hit Trump with, but also as others have said, the whole deficit thing is bullshit. They don't care about deficits at all. They only care that the government is spending money on social programs to help the vulnerable. They will run up huge deficits to give tax breaks to the wealthy, or to give huge payouts to defense contractors, or fossil fuels, but they get upset when spending is directed toward people who they see as "unworthy" which is poor people.
They are also driven by racial prejudice as Walsh showed when he repeatedly attacked President Obama using Trump's birtherism.

(22,913 posts)But though "WE, THE PEOPLE don't need him" to provide even even a spec of political insights, we do need him to do exactly what he is doing right now. Anything anyone can do to disillusion even a handful of former Trump voters to at least stay on election day 2020 is helping our nation.

Joe Walsh is saying that he has been an idiot and he is responsible for visiting this plague upon our nation, so ....
"make me your president."
Please. He is a shiny bauble, nothing more.

(56,828 posts)because - if he gets enough support - it will hurt Trump.
That said, he has no chance to get more than a few percent in the polls, I'm thinking. The right wing extremist conservatives are mostly happy with Donny Dollhands and his policies and the Trump run RNC has been trying to rig the early primaries so the GOP can just skip them and endorse Trumpy.

Every time he tweets a list of things he dislikes about trump he NEVER mentions racism.
The "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" should be considered very wisely with this worthless POS tea bagger.

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) may be many things, but bashful certainly is not one of them. The straight-shooting former congressman has long been a supporter of President Donald Trump but as he revealed in an interview with MSNBC's Katy Tur on Monday, it hasn't always been easy.
"As a Trump supporter I do my best not to pay attention to what he says," Walsh said during a discussion of President Trump's remark that he would be "honored" to meet with North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un under the "appropriate" circumstances. "If I pulled my hair out for every nutty thing he said, I'd be bald," Walsh said.
"Congressman, if you say you've gotta try and ignore most of what the president says, why are you a Trump supporter?" Tur asked. "It's not an easy job," Walsh replied. "I try to focus on what he does, but ... he makes it very difficult" ...
