By Zack Budryk - 08/28/19 09:29 AM EDT
Attorneys for financier and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein said his death in federal custody was far more consistent with assault than suicide in a court hearing Tuesday, according to Newsweek.
The lawyers said they could provide further evidence backing their claims.
Epsteins lawyers said the medical examiner who ruled Epstein died by suicide had only seen nine minutes of footage from a single security camera before making the determination.

Attorneys argued Epstein lacked motive to take his own life, saying that the time of his death, the registered sex offenders legal team had decided to pursue an appeal challenging prosecutors ability to pursue the case that they believed had a high chance of success.

(16,887 posts)Narcissistic assholes dont kill themselves. Epstein was arrogant and surely thought he would buy the best legal defense and get away with it.
Yes, he changed his will, but that was a strategic financial move - not because he planned to kill himself. He knew civil suits were coming and he wanted to protect that money.

I only had one semester of wills and trusts, so I'm not by any means an expert. Could you help me out on how that works?
I have civil suits coming, and so I change my will to somehow shield my assets from those suits while I'm still alive? How does changing my will - and then not dying - protect my assets?
My will is only effective if I die. I did manage to pick that much up. So I'm completely mystified by this notion of "changing your will to protect your assets from lawsuits" if one is not planning on dying.
I'm also not sure where you get your information about narcissism. Narcissists frequently commit suicide.

Specific features of suicidal behavior in patients with narcissistic personality disorder.
Suicidal behavior is a clinically significant but underestimated cause of mortality in narcissistic personality disorder.

Narcissistic personality disorder seems to be a distinct group among cluster B personality disorders with regard to suicidal behavior. In contrast to suicide attempters with other cluster B personality disorders, suicide attempters diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder are less impulsive and have suicide attempts characterized by higher lethality. These distinctions may offer a basis for targeted therapies aimed at decreasing suicidal risk in patients with narcissistic personality disorder.

Among the many motives behind suicidal activities in general are shame, loss of honor, and narcissistic mortification. Those who suffer from narcissistic mortification are more likely to participate in suicidal behaviors and those who do not receive the proper help more often than not succeed. Suicide related to narcissistic mortification is different from normal sorrow in that it is associated with deep rooted self-contempt and self-hatred.
Our lexicon includes the modern phrase "drinking the Kool Aid" due to a narcissistic asshole committing suicide and taking his followers with him.
Are we going to go with "Hitler was murdered" too?
When the jig is up and they can no longer maintain the facade, suicide is precisely what narcissistic assholes do.

Now I'm not sure.

(11,301 posts)premo conspiracy fodder. This is high profile, it will be investigated from every conceivable angle by multiple concerns .. and it will satisfy absolutely ZERO with the skeptics. Carry on.

Carry on, indeed...
