Trump shares an anecdote about Mattis that begins with "Sir...", which means it's 100% horseshit.

@atrupar

Trump puts words in Mattis's mouth, says that when he took office, Mattis told him, "'Sir, we're very low on ammunition' ... and I said, you know what? General, I never want to hear that again from another general. Not president should ever, ever hear that statement."

1. If the Mattis story is true, Mattis probably said it so that Stupid would abandon any plans for war.

BS. No general would use the word ammunition in that context. He sounds like they’re in a foxhole.

We've been burning through munitions like mad for the past 18 years. The Air Force started sounding the alarm on running out of bombs back in 2014 or 15, when we ramped up bombing ISIS. He's likely misremembering the wording and convos, but I don't really doubt Mattis would have complained about that.

5. Oh doesn't he just love quoting people by including (or fabricating) that "Sir".

Great guy. Good friend. Very very dear close friend. And people are saying. You won't believe this. Very true story. Many many people. The autoworkers love me more than Custer. You know how the Indians loved Custer, right? No greater friend of the Indians ever. Be sure to try the curry at Trump Tower Grill. So the automakers are very strong supporters. Because not since Custer has anyone done so much for them"

the time Trump took office? Of course, the military would not continue to order big amounts of the obselete ammo, and production of the new ammo likely had not fully ramped to 100%. My guess? Trump was told about the change in the type of round used, and then he turned what was happening into a lie.

If Mattis lets this slid, he has no honor. He was quick to criticize President Obama in print.
