Kim Jong Ryan's actual marathon time confirmed: 4:01:25

http://news.runnersworld.com/2012/08/31/paul-ryan-says-hes-run-sub-300-marathon/

Updated 12:29 am
It turns out Paul Ryan has not run a marathon in less than three hours—or even less than four hours.

A spokesman confirmed late Friday that the Republican vice presidential candidate has run one marathon. That was the 1990 Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota, where Ryan, then 20, is listed as having finished in 4 hours, 1 minute, and 25 seconds.

... In a statement issued to Runner's World by a spokesman Friday night, Ryan said of his marathon experience:

"The race was more than 20 years ago, but my brother Tobin—who ran Boston last year—reminds me that he is the owner of the fastest marathon in the family and has never himself ran a sub-three. If I were to do any rounding, it would certainly be to four hours, not three. He gave me a good ribbing over this at dinner tonight."

Sat Sep 1, 2012, 11:33 AM
Sep 2012

It used to be a qualification for the Boston Marathon.
I ran a 3 hour and 46 minute marathon after two years of training.
This was in 1984. To say you ran a two-fifty something is
a lie! We runners know. It is not an accidental mis-speak especially
for a twenty-year old! A sub 3 hour marathon is like a
three hundred batting average or gaining a hundred yards in
a game. Over four hours is an atta-boy and I have a few of
those. If I came home and said I ran a sub 3 hour marathon
I would be labelled a liar (for life)!

Are there any reasonable and informed republicans left? And if so, how are they digesting all the outright lies R&R are telling? I can't imagine our side rallying around two obvious liars. I remember when Grayson put out a borderline ad and he was attacked by both the left and right. When Clinton told some untruths, she lost a lot of support on our side (all is forgiven now, but just referencing past behavior).

79. Former Grandma's marathon finisher perspective
Sun Sep 2, 2012, 12:53 AM
Sep 2012

At the age of 20, the typical ex high school athlete probably averaged 3 to 5 miles a day if they didn't compete in cross country in the fall, and IF they planned to enter an early summer marathon such as Grandma's. They might have a long Sunday run of 10 to 12 miles leading up to the marathon once every other week. You throw in a long run to get your body used to hitting the wall, and pushing it to its limit. This was a humid, and hot time of year in the midwest. NOT ideal marathon running weather. At 20 yrs old, with no cross country running experience that I've read about in his past his goal was probably to say to his pals that he finished a marathon. That's a worthy goal, except he decided to run for office then lie about it to the press. From what I read he only ran one marathon. I only ran one marathon. I remember my time within 60 seconds give, or take a few. I will go to my grave knowing what I ran that hot summer. I trained hard for months leading up to that day. I had friends in the crowd that day. I had friends in the race that day. If I ran for office I don't expect them to stay silent if I lied. He simply had to tell the truth. I'm embarrassed he's from my state, but glad that he's not a Democrat.
