What bothers me is the words Clint Eastwood in Obama's mouth

No one has ever caught him talking like that and that's not something he is known for, like Christie. I can't imagine those words even coming out of his mouth. Of all the things they have made up about him, I don't know why this one bothers me so much. Anyone else feel the same? Any clues for why?

someone - Jimmy Carter maybe - needs to speak to how far beyond the pale this really is and how the Romney campaign owes the President an apology.

Remember in 2004 that the entire RW went ballistic demanding Senator Kerry apologize for the crude and vulgar joke of Whoopi Goldberg made at a fundraiser that Kerry attended - though the comment was before he arrived. %The gentlemanly Kerry said it was inappropriate.

This is worse. Clint Eastwood put vulgar words into his version of our President's mouth .

I think everyone knows Obama would never say that, but those were words Romney needed to hear and Clint got the message out. I am not at all upset about the speech, I loved it in fact. It ruined Romney's big night, that is exactly what I wanted to happen and I am happy that Romney got the "go fuck yourself" message sent to him on national television right before his big speech.

They thought it was cool for invisible Obama to slap down Bullshit Mitt with that line.

but I don't think that language -- real or imaginary -- has a place in our political discourse. Words matter.

It's the basic idea behind ventriloquism. We know that it's really the ventriloquist saying those things. That's why it's funny, there's a tension there.

It's like a court jester who says the things no one else can say.

And never denied it? Their convention, like their party, is delusional.

What he gave to Barack Obama was, well, not the best lines. It was a couple vulgarities. First of all, "shut up," and then "go blank yourself;" a word we can't utter here, of course, and shouldn't have been uttered there. Certainly, not before the candidate was going to come out and impress us with what a wonderful person he was. The result was that it was ... Let me say this, in my opinion, Obama is incapable of saying "shut up and go blank yourself" in any normal circumstance and is capable, in fact, of uttering much more eloquent and I think proper replies. He was not given that opportunity. The words were put in his mouth. The words were vulgar and worse, they were disrespectful. I mean, I can remember a number of presidential campaigns where presidents who were running for reelection were not treated quite this disrespectfully.
