(11,586 posts)She's not only fabulous, but she is formidable.
I wish people here would stop picking on everything she says and does as though they have a clue.

(2,895 posts)SF office this summer. They both love her! She's a very genuine person trying to do what's right for the country, especially those who are less able to advocate for themselves. She's a devoted grandmother, unlike the Head Deplorable, who probably couldn't pick his own grandchildren out of lineup. (Though I imagine it's his 3 older kids who are most likely to be in a lineup!) My son said she had to be dragged away from taking to the interns and seemed to really enjoy their conversations. She would say something personal to each one... like talk to the Berkeley one about her football team's chances (apparently, she follows sports, plus one or more of her grandkids go to USC, a Cal rival).... and to the U of Santa Clara intern about her own experience with the Jesuits... and to my son she talked about speaking at the Oxford Union. And my daughter was not appointed because she's a big donor or something. She's on SSI, and quadriplegic with a speech disability... but she was also Dem Volunteer of the Year for our district and Christine Pelosi has been one of her biggest supporters. It hurts my family at times to see the caricatures and demonization of a remarkable woman who has had such a personally positive effect on our family, but is also playing such a crucial role in helping to save our country.

(2,895 posts)high school. Both of the younger kids have really been inspired by their older sister's activism in the disability rights and self-determination movement, the domestic workers' rights movement and the Democratic Party. They are lucky to have her as a role model. (For that matter, so am I!)

Samuel Taliaferro Rayburn (January 6, 1882 November 16, 1961) was an American politician who served as the 43rd Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. He was a 25-term congressman, representing Texas's 4th congressional district as a Democrat from 1913 to 1961. He holds the record for the longest tenure as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, serving for over 17 years (among three separate stints).

(860 posts)I am eating crow right now, because I spoke ill of Speaker Pelosi. I have been critical on her first go round now I humble ask to be forgiven for my disparaging remarks. Speaker Pelosi has risen to the challange and has come to defend the principles of the founding fathers. I was emotional in my approach and she calculating and measured for something that is gravely important for our democracy. WE MUST FOLLOW THE RULE OF LAW

(5,269 posts)We actually kept off and locked MSNBC, CNN and all the networks on our TV cable since March when we knew Mueller probe fizzled out and the news coverage was driving us nuts. But we unlocked cable for the first time in 6 months to see her impeachment announcement this week and today the interview this am.
