Mitt Romney: A PHD graduate of the Susan Collins School of Political Weaselry

Mitt Romney is almost completely Trump-immune. He is nowhere near needing to stand for reelection. He is from a Red state that dislikes Trump. He has the respect of the old time Republicans. And yet, he won't take a firm stand on the impeachable Trump actions the entire world saw in real time, live, on television.

By all appearances, the President’s brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling.

Because Romney left off the part where he says he's voting for removal from office should the House refer Articles of Impeachment to the Senate.

Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Romney! Gotta be careful not to say too much and draw unwelcome attention.

Others will follow. Mitt Romney will never be a Democrat, so he does this the GOP way. It's the best we can hope for, and it will start a trickle of GOPers and independents and then a flood.

Give it a week. There will be a few more in the coming days, and then all the rats will dive off. Yes, i know I'm mixing metaphors. But maybe the rats are diving over the dike?

Honestly, if someone like Mitt is the most courageous of the GOP legislators left, that tells you a lot.

Same goes for Joni Ernst.

I will give them both credit for beginning to call Trump out for his abuses.

but he could start a mutiny by giving Republicans somewhere to go. By calling a sitting president in his party “wrong and appalling”, he is setting the stage for more division.

He may have been successful in business and politics, but he is not a leader in any meaningful sense of the word. Picture that photo of him having dinner with Trump a few years ago. But at the end of the day, he is nothing more than a toady.

making that extended video where he called Trump a fake and a phony. I don’t think he has any loyalty to Trump. I would like to see more out of him, sure. I do believe he would vote to impeach.

With post-doc study in hand cringing, brow furrowing, and finger wagging.

And, of course, Susan Collins is sole lecturer in how to handle cognitive dissonance without head exploding.

Made me laugh a little.

Old Mitt sure sounds like a weak, pathetic person. Certainly not presidential. I wonder what 45 has on him that’s keeping him docile.
