Eventually if it is mentioned enough times, someone with a conscience somewhere will try to make it happen. it isn't wanting a fucking pony. its wanting our country back.

It all comes down to minimum living standard for Americans.
Housing
Healthy food, water and air
Universal single payer health care
Enough income for vacation and retirement
Free quality public education at all levels for life. (want to become an MD at 40? Have at it.)
and a pony

It can only happen with PUBLIC financing of elections, the stripping of Human rights from corporations and
limits on the SCOTUS advancing policy in favor of the rich.
Ending the "trade agreements" that turn our sovereignty over to corporate interests.
Plus open fair elections.

starting with prosecuting Cheney. This is gonna bring back some dead? This is gonna accomplish what?

"tax churches like a business". We already do. They are taxed just like any other non-profit business, except perhaps in property taxes, but that's a state thing.

"End the Fed" and replace it with what, exactly?

Given the start of your list, it seems like you favor putting more people in jail more than you favor lifting people out of poverty.

You suggest that Congresspeople need to "give up power". Well, I am not sure that Congresspeople like, say Anthony Weiner or Paul Ryan have as much power as a rich person like Romney or David Koch.

I guess it does not matter that people, like Biden, voted to allow Bush to invade Iraq? How is he not on the indictment list?

Viet Nam and the Iraq fiasco were both based on lies.
IF the traitors who created the pretense for Nam had been dragged before the court and prosecuted maybe
they would not have had the temerity to continue lying to the US population promoting their illegal wars for profit.
The indictment list is for the persons responsible for lying us into war and or violating the law.
Remember when we were a law abiding nation in theory?
Remember when we were obliged to follow the Geneva Convention?
Remember when we prosecuted people for torture?
Being lied into supporting a position or casting a vote is not a criminal offense.

1. End all efforts to privatize, roll back what has been privatized during my lifetime.

2. EDUCATION: Ban high stakes testing, all efforts to privatize (see #1), and kick the private, corporate policy makers out. Put education in the charge of the stakeholders: educators and those they serve.

3. Make ALL elections 100% publicly financed, funds equally distributed, with equal, and equally neutral, media coverage; debates that are not sponsored by corporate media, that include all candidates, that allow all candidates to answer all questions and give them all equal talk time.

4. Paper ballots required.

5. Repeal NAFTA, return to FAIR trade based on environmental and labor standards. No more outsourcing.

I still want my pony, too. My pony is a Democratic Party that is not neo-liberal, that does not put corporations before people, that serves the 99%.

Sun Sep 2, 2012, 06:00 PM

but my pony list is:
1. Decriminalize marijuana and have it be regulated like alcohol and tobacco.
2. Bring tax rates on corporations and the 1% back to Eisenhower-era rates, where they were around 90%.
3. Recognize same-sex marriage nationwide.
4. Establish universal health-care.
5. Get money out of politics completely, and have all elections be publicly-funded.
6. No more Patriot Act.
7. Establish some type of lottery system to motivate people to vote, where each person gets a chance at winning $1M just for voting.

P.S. What's funny is that once I took one of those "are you more liberal than Obama" tests, and I agreed with all of those ideas on the test, and it said that my ideas would be considered by many as "too radical." I was thinking "wtf?" The reason why these ideas may seem radical is because of how far to the right the country has moved in the past few decades.

Also... (speaking of Ponies) I would like to add that Mr. Obama DROP his wretched pursuit of NDAA and his quest to put Americans in Jail with no trial and no attorney.

Seems like this would be something that Citizens shouldn't even have to fight for.. "the right to a trial and the right to be charged in an open court of law."

For some reason.. Mr. Obama LOVES this NDAA... don't know why?

Some of your ideas I like. Some of them are just stupid. Some of them are limited to the States. Some of them are dangerous.

Bottom-line: most of them are not achievable by ANY POTUS.

Unless, of course, you crown him King with unlimited power. Historian will tell you that the most efficient form of government is Enlightened Despotism. Unfortunately, it only lasts one generation.

And if you were crowned King, and one of those policies you outlined DIDN'T work, would you be willing to admit it?

You see, this is one of the differences between the children and the Adults in the room - the Adults are willing to admit "I might be wrong".

I'd love to discuss may of your "pony" wishes with you. some of them I think are pretty good. some of them I think are impractical. Some of them I think are just plain stupid.
