Romney is ready...

Just in case Trump has to be impeached and convicted.

He is ready to rescue the Republican Party if they get themselves in a bind with Trump.

He gave a speech on the Senate floor today that was not complimentary of Donald Trump.

Just so you know.

He is ready to step in.

They may not be the same but Mitt is no improvement. He made his millions in vulture capitalism. He put his dog on the roof of his car where it was terrified during a long trip. Who does that? Not someone who I would ever want to even know.

No. He is not an improvement. He hasn’t spoken out about the children put in cages, or about Hurricane Maria destroying Puerto Rico.

We're not talking who would be good, just who would be less awful.

Yeah, Romney is terrible. But Trump is in a league of his own. Romney would not be writing kindergarten bully letters to world leaders, would not ignore any and all informed counsel, would not abandon former allies to a deadly fate on a whim, would not be routinely be played for a fool by every tinpot dictator on the planet, would not be openly and proudly corrupt. The conventional constraints of "normal" adult behavior would inform his actions.

Just because he is also despicable in his own way does not mean he would be no improvement. You can verify this for yourself by asking yourself whether, if you could wave a magic wand and put Romney rather than Trump in the Oval Office as of January 2017, you would do it.

he would still definitely be a big improvement over DT! All, you have to do is listen to his speech to the Senate. He is a smart, intelligent man who has real respect for our Military and Honor of our Country. I know we wouldn't have to worry about what he MIGHT SAY when traveling to a foreign nation, or buddying up to a dictator. AND he actually THINKS! He will never replace DT so why even argue the point.

Their vision of America, whether it’s Romney’s, Trump’s, Rand Paul’s, Ted Cruz’s or any of them is an America owned by the rich and financed by the poor. Their object is to steal as much money as they can under whatever pretense possible and make it look like they love us.

Gone is the mortgage deduction and numerous tax “considerations” that we once had that allowed us to save a few bucks. What burns my butt most is that their stupid followers think that Republicans are leading America to greatness, when in reality, each and everyone of them is simply trying to rob us blind.

The 2012 Republican primaries were one long exercise in "anybody but Mitt", but the future Cult 45 flitted between one darling and the next (including Trump), while the party establishment stuck by Romney (even when his tax disclosure amounted to such a tiny fig leaf something was clearly fishy... and let's not forget how that paved the way for Trump blowing off disclosure entirely).

When the votes were counted, Romney was the one who came out on top, so the cultists grumbled but fell in line. And then Romney went and lost to the guy they hated with a passion.

FWIW, he was right about Russia being a geopolitical foe, even if it was an old worldview in 2012. Not saying he’s prescient.

Remember when he was laughed at just for saying that? Look how far we've fallen since then. We've got a sexual predator/pervert who openly said he can "grab them by the p****" sitting in our White House.

I'm not in any way advocating that I like Romney. I certainly would never vote for a Republican. But remember when Trump called a meeting with him and Romney was all aglow thinking he'd get some cushy position in the administration and Trump humiliated him? On some level, you just have to know that Mitt would love to give Trump the worst humiliation in the world.
