'Moscow Mitch' McConnell rips Trump for 'grave strategic mistake' in blistering Washington Post op-e

“Sadly, the recently announced pullout risks repeating the Obama administration’s reckless withdrawal from Iraq, which facilitated the rise of the Islamic State in the first place,” McConnell wrote.

McConnell, who has been nicknamed “Moscow Mitch” for his record on Russia, noted the “nightmare of Trump help Vladimir Putin.

“The combination of a U.S. pullback and the escalating Turkish-Kurdish hostilities is creating a strategic nightmare for our country. Even if the five-day cease-fire announced Thursday holds, events of the past week have set back the United States’ campaign against the Islamic State and other terrorists. Unless halted, our retreat will invite the brutal Assad regime in Syria and its Iranian backers to expand their influence. And we are ignoring Russia’s efforts to leverage its increasingly dominant position in Syria to amass power and influence throughout the Middle East and beyond,” McConnell explained.

A smattering of ODS of course. That is always going to be a fallback. I wrote something earlier here:

And i have to confess I am feeling slightly smug having predicted I would hazard a guess that these power players will not protect Trump for much longer, They do not need to. They have played into his ego for enough time for the far-right wing coup to be nearly complete.
Causing world war 3 is probably not in their immediate plans.

Staff members before making serious decisions; particularly those which may be the difference between life or death. He also read his Daily Briefs each morning, took work home with him at night to continue catching up on his reading after the girls had gone to bed, and stayed abreast of what was going on in the world. Trump does none of those things. He refused to take Daily Briefings from early on in his residency. Note. The use of the word residency was not a mistake. There is nothing Presidential about Drumpf. He and his family are a bunch of squatters in the White House; contributing nothing of significance, and taking everything they can get away with. Drumpf does not take his job serious by trying to learn anything about the job, or the complex world in which we live; except what he and his family can exploit from it. He and his family are nothing but a bunch of grifters, out to get everything that they can at someone else's expense.

See Kentucky Voters... I disagreed with Trump and even said something bad about Russia in a fake newspaper. I couldn't be Moscow Mitch.

And of course this Op-Ed means less than nothing and he'll continue to trample on Democracy, kiss Trump's ass, and collect his paycheck from Deripaska.

Bush created ISIS. The group killed thousands of American troops before President Obama became President.

Another right wing lie and smear. Bush helped ISIS to form in the vacuum of his blunders in Iraq. ISIS formed out of the radical Sunni groups that were deposed when Shia, the majority in Iraq were given the green light and began retribution for what the Baath party (Sunnis) did during the Sadaam regime. Republicans love to pin their mess ups on Democrats.

Debathification basically eliminated any role they could have in the new Iraq. The zealot Zaquari (sp?) used their isolation from the rest of Iraq society to recruit them into what was called al quida of Iraq. When al quida leadership tried to calm them down, they split off and called themselves ISIS, the split came around 2007-2008, one to two years before President Obama became President. They did grow in numbers when President Obama pulled troops from Iraq, but by then they had been responsible for killing the vast majority of our troops that died in Iraq. They perfected the tactic of using IEDs to kill off a superior force.

20. Obama's "reckless withdrawal" from Iraq??
Fri Oct 18, 2019, 08:25 PM
Oct 2019

That withdrawal was an agreement signed with the Iraqi government by GW Bush before he departed. The Iraqis did not want an American force in their country that could kill with impunity to Iraqi law.

If America is to blame for the rise of ISIS, pin it on the reckless and fraudulent 2003 invasion of Iraq by GW Bush -- with overwhelming support from McConnell and his GOP cohorts.

His criticism of Trump is too little, too late, and too narrow in scope.
