(23,182 posts)Our usual brand is Korbel Brut, it's tasty and reasonable. Some friends brought a bottle of Dom Perignon to one of our parties and man was that delicious. I might even spring for that since this would be one of the happiest days of my life and it would be worth it.

(14,552 posts)When Bush left office, we bought a bottle of champaigne (I wish I could remember what it was) to celebrate. We bought the kids sparkling cider. We then used this in the fireplace.
I wish I could find one with trump on it.
This is my special occasion favorite
Moët & Chandon Brut It starts at about 30 a bottle and is the parent company of Dom Perignon. But you truly haven't lived until you drink Dom straight out of the bottle still in the paper bag.

(54,465 posts)MANY years ago (45 years, to be exact--is THAT scary?), when I used to tour in my spare time, I called one of my pieces "The 1974 Overture" celebrating Nixon's resignation. It got me a rare standing ovation at a German folk festival in 1975 when I ended my set with it. There is no other feeling equal to that.
3catwoman3
(24,083 posts)...and piccolo, and learned enough basic guitar chords to do a few folk songs. I have a wonderful 1918 Gulbransen upright grand (what I call a Sunday school piano), that I still play, although with a very limited repertoire and only when I am home alone so no one can hear my many mistakes. It is an old-fashioned player piano with the pump-it-yourself foot pedals.
I take out my 56 year old Gemeinhardt flute from time to time, and play along with something on YouTube when I can pick out the melody. One of my cats shows up and meows loudly when I do this. I can't tell is she is trying to "sing along," or trying to get me to stop.
My most recent musical involvement is being a member of a small handbell choir at the little Unitarian Universalist congregation where I have been a member for the last 8 years. Totally different, and fun.
From reading some of your posts, I know you are a much more accomplished musician than I.

(54,465 posts)My mom majored in Classical music in college, encouraged me to take piano lessons early, didn't object when the sixties came along, and I took up guitar and bass, and chuckled when I entered college and joined the balalaika orchestra. My sister is a professional opera singer (mezzo).
When I was 19, my brother got me Leo Kottke's "Armadillo" album, and it was like a new world had been revealed to me. From that day on, the 12 string guitar was my instrument, and I even sought out the legendary Serbian master builder, Boo Podunavac, and had him make me several guitars over the years. Although I played bass and keyboards with various rock groups until then, after 1971, I only performed solo on the 12 string guitar. I even got to play in front of Bill Clinton once! I also once had the honor of doing a 45 minute set of Russian songs with Theodore Bikel (at HIS invitation!), so I have had a few highlights along the way, it's true.
3catwoman3
(24,083 posts)I have been a member of a clog dancing group, now many years ago, and we used to strut our stuff at folk music festivals in the upper peninsula of Michigan and northern Wisconsin. Blue grass music always sets my toes too tapping.
I wish I could play the bagpipes.
It often feels as if music makes my very cells vibrate. It can be a whole body experience.

I think they will put Romney in there as the candidate and that could beat us in 2020, then we are right back in the soup again. (34,136 posts)I sat here watching and did not say a word until they loaded that MF Cheney in his helicopter and it lifted off the surface of our planet at the spot where he did the most damage. I raised my arm with my hand in a fist and scared every bird off the trees around our house. I then cried big tears of relief and I rarely cry.
Both bad administrations in different ways, some similar but both as evil AF!
I imagine I will repeat this one but if he goes by impeachment? If he is arrested? If he is broke and broken and has nowhere to hide then I will laugh my silly ass off and dance for joy. Probably even do a mid day drunk and that is not my usual style either. I have never felt this about another human. I have hated the actions of those who are cruel and treat our country as well as others like their personal toilet but it is nothing like this. Hermit-The-Prog
(33,517 posts)Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.
All we need is a majority in both houses of Congress to declare the punishment, and then convict the formerly impeached TraitorTot of treason.
'Treason shall be punished by placing the Convicted covfefe within the confines of an Cage, which thence shall be transported throughout the Land, giving citizens ample opportunity to Point, Stare, and Ridicule. Officers shall be stationed around the Perimeter of the Cage, to ensure that the Convicted suffers no assaults by insufficiently ripened Fruits, which might untimely end the citizens' ability to express displeasure.'
Congress could get creative.
