Neal Katyal teases that he's making news tonight

Katyal was acting solicitor general for a time under Clinton and helped draft the Special Counsel regulations that replaced the Special Prosecutor regulation that Republicans had abused with Ken Starr.

No idea what the news will be, though.

My speculation was that he was hired onto the House Democratic impeachment legal team? (He'd also be a good age to step onto the SCOTUS in a Democratic administration in 2021 or 2022)

he mentioned on Twitter several times that the regulations require DOJ to turn over all materials to the House and/or Senate, but DOJ is ignoring that regulation, hence the lawsuit from the House.

I think the process would be much further along if DOJ had followed their own rules in this case.

Let it Neal.

Let it Neal.

Let it Neal!

He will be a superb asset to us all - whatever the news will tell us.
Here's hoping it will ask of him all his highest values and greatest expertise.

If it were something like a hiring by the committee, he would never tease it. He wouldnt go on TV. He'd quietly take the job and leave media all together.

Interesting thought, but I think that, even if the idea didn't disgust him, this very intelligent man must understand that it would disgust others who until then had respected him.

I'm wondering if this could be something bigger than expected, like a targeted legal maneuver or something.
