Putin and Erdogan emerge from the talks that lasted for
nearly 6 hours. During the press conference, Putin emphasizes
great relationship with Turkey, immediately takes a jab at
the United States, stating that Syria must be freed from
all foreign troops "illegally present" there."

I didn't know it was theirs to dictate policy over. What does the "official" government of Syria say about having Turkish troops operating inside its borders? Were they invited?

Without Russian air power Syria might very well be a functioning democracy now 8 years after war criminal Assad decided to murder peaceful protestors, gas his own citizens, create millions of refugees, and turn his country into a pile of rubble.
