ISIS posted recruitment, promotional videos to TikTok: report
The China-based social media giant TikTok has reportedly banned roughly two dozen accounts promoting content linked to ISIS.
The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that videos posted by the accounts showed violent and graphic images including corpses being paraded through the streets of territory formerly held by ISIS, as well as recruitment messages urging youth to join the terrorist organization.
Some of the videos appeared to be posted on the platform within the past month, according to the Journal, despite U.S. efforts to drive ISIS out of Iraq and Syria. The group lost its last territory in Syria earlier this year.
A spokeswoman for the platform told the Journal that the company has a team assigned to removing malicious users from the platform, but stressed that the issue is an industry-wide problem.
