Tweety just asked her if the Republican desire to do away with abortion will only make women who have made that choice seek it out wherever they can find it.
The subject line is Gov. Perdue's response.

(18,048 posts)Not crazy she tried to fight same-sex marriage but it is NC after all.
She seems to be a plain-speaking dame and that's great.

(34,108 posts)Here is what she said when the BAN on same-sex marriage passed in NC:
"People around the country are watching us, and they're really confused to have been such a progressive, forward-thinking, economically driven state that invested in education and that stood up for the civil rights people including the civil rights marches back in the '50s and '60s and '70s," she told North Carolina's WITN. "Folks are saying 'What in the world is going on with North Carolina?' We look like Mississippi."

(224 posts)Two of my great grandmothers died from botched abortions, both of them were poor and couldn't feed the kids they already had. That was back before the days of the "health care" insurance giants and so many people being uninsured. How many thousands of women today would die every year because they had no insurance, had no money, and couldn't afford the kids they already had? NOt that repugs would care. All they care about is fetal cells.

(5,158 posts)She is right, the GOP wants to take us back to the days when women had to get back alley abortions with a coat hanger, and many of them died from botched abortions. That doesn't sound very "pro-life".
