Y'all can have the whole rest of DU for discussin and dissention and all. I'll even pitch in there with you. But after last week's horrorshow I would like to have one thread where we remember that we are the best hope this country has to offer and just plain exhort.
Thinks I can't WAIT to see:
Michelle Obama's warm voice and beautiful face. She's been the best First Lady I've ever seen, bar none. I expect intelligence and humor and a reminder what an inspiration she has been this past four years.
Julian Castro. I don't have a Latino bone in my body and I'm tremendously excited to see this vibrant, rising example that we are, in spite of what "those guys" try to tell us is true, a country that welcomes all and believes that their success is our success.
Bill Clinton! Who would have thought how beautifully that man would grow into a world citizen. His brilliance and determination and just plain hard work make me proud.
The whole DNC Platform...one that seeks to lift up every man, woman and child, to do exactly what this country was intended to do, to be a society that takes care of all its citizens and believes in their equality and dignity.
Barack Hussein Obama!! MY president! The guy I voted for. The first African American President! A smart and good man who, in spite of the worst opposition in any history I've lived in, has made strides FORWARD for us, ALL of us. I'm proud as hell of him in so many ways, and will celebrate this week the great thing we did, and will again do, in electing him.
So I have got out the pom poms and am ready to cheer for a few days, to energize and remember how great we can be!

It works. Cheering makes you feel better. It doesn't make you nuts or unrealistic, it simply energizes as opposed to exhausting and making you vulnerable.
AND it's contagious! Your own enthusiasm can break through walls of defeat in others.

(45,558 posts)This is what passed for entertainment in the 60's and 70's....
And they wondered why we started up with the drugs.
Seriously, Mitzi was the consummate hoofer, which is what they called dancers back then. Every variety show had a stable of dancers to do a dance routine on every show.
It was weird to have Mitzi dancing before the commercial break with the Yardbirds coming in after the break.
This is also what you get when there are only three networks and usually you were out of the signal area of at least one of those broadcast networks.
Okay, geezer time is over, you can go back to doing what your doing and oh yea, tell your mother to come over here and get this ball.
That was another ruse to get women out of the house so they could have affairs with the unemployed married man in the neighborhood....
