Who is the Florida congressman who quit the GOP and was just on Nicole Wallace's show?

His explanation of what has happened to the Republican party was incredible and should be plastered all over Facebook and the Internet. It was the best I have ever heard and should shame any Republican in Congress who hears it. Beautiful.

I'd love to give him credit.

I have heard other statements he has made about the Repukes and was also impressed, but this statement blew me away. I hope they post it.

But, he is another rethug/never-trumper who seemed perfectly able to join the party knowing all about Newt Gingrich, never-ending investigations into the Clintons during the 1990s, Dick Cheney, lying to attack Iraq, Gowdy, Issa, Palin, Ken Starr, the rethug smear machine, hate radio, faux noise, on and on ad nauseam.

Even after all that he watched in his 20s and 30s, it's agent orange that was the line he couldn't cross? Like everyone else who quit the party, he's a little late in doing so.

and he'll bash liberals quickly. When he quit the Thug Party, he said he would never be a Democrat, that he believes in the conservative philosophy of limited government, minimal regulation, and low taxes. He's a decent person but will always be on the wrong side of the issues. Glad to have a never Trumper in the fold but he's no friend of the Democratic Party.

I agree there were a lot of reasons to quit before this term, but at least Jolly has and will probably never be welcomed back into the party. I have to give him credit for that, at least, and hope he has seen enough of the other side to stay out of the party in the future.

The Repukes have an affective propaganda machine and, once sucked in, one can see where members would stay faithful/sucked. They have been looking in a different forest than the Democrats and see things differently. However, I feel that many have caught on to the lies and crap the party has fed them through the years. Many may not be able to admit it yet, but I don't think they will be able to justify allegiance in the future. Little by little, their true feelings will come out and will certainly surprise us.

I'm watching a couple old friends and a relative who are in the process...fingers crossed.

who got it right. He wrote a book about being swept up in the hate machine (he wrote a vicious screed about Anita Hill and came up with the phrase "a little bit nutty, a little bit slutty" ), then came to his senses.

He wrote the book Blinded by the Right and renounced his former self, former friends, and the whole rethug cult. It's one of the best books I've ever read. And those who are still conservative never-trumpers have to do a hell of a lot more than charm us all on MSNBC before I can ever trust them.

As would Nicole Wallace, Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, Bill Kristol, David Frum, Michael Steele, Jennifer Rubin, and the rest of this new cottage industry of Republicans crying over Donald Trump's gauche behavior. They are all over MSNBC.

Trust me. Not one of these people would vote for a Democrat of any stripe.

If we had a President Romney or a President Cruz or a President Pence with the exact same record and staff as Trump, these same folk would be singing their praises, just like they cheerleaded for George W Bush and Dick Cheney.

of bashing people like David Jolly or Nicole Wallace.

Yes, they were Republicans once, people are allowed to be Republicans. But they are no longer in the party and they have national platforms to attack Trump and the Republican party.

Why would we not welcome that?

If they go back to being Republicans, fine, put them back on the shitlist, but why would we not want someone like NW right now? She has a daily national TV talk show, she tears Trump and her former party - as she makes a point of calling it - every single broadcast, and in no uncertain terms.

And she can likely reach people that a DU commenter couldn't. Here (or on any political web site) folks tend to preach to the choir.

The holier-than-thou stuff around here gets a little tiring sometimes.

Just a thought.

Well said. We can't expect any change if we continue to diss people for turning their backs on the Republican party. My parents were Republicans forever, but never criticized me for voting as a Democrat. Today, they would be disgusted with the present Republican party. I don't know if they would change parties...I would guess they would opt to be Independent. I certainly would be proud of them for walking away from such corruption and fraud, though.

We'll see how this all turns out in a short while. I hope people finally wake up and believe the facts as they come out. We have to remember that Republicans are fed some pretty potent propaganda 24/7 and they have been trained for many years to fulfill their role as unquestioning and faithful followers, or as I call them..."sheeple."

Democrats, on the other hand, strive for more independence and self-esteem. I think the difference is astounding.
