Trump's GOP defenders cannot be shamed. It's time to try this instead.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/11/22/trumps-gop-defenders-cannot-be-shamed-its-time-democrats-try-this-instead/
/snip/ It’s time to drop the posture that Trump’s defenders can be shamed into accepting what has been unearthed, or that they can be shamed into arguing from a baseline of shared democratic values, or into arguing over how to interpret a comprehensive set of shared facts. Instead, let’s rhetorically treat Trump’s defenders as his criminal accomplices. Not just as “enablers” of Trump’s corruption but as active participants in it. Once this is accepted, it becomes obvious why they can’t be “won over,” because they are actively engaged in keeping the corruption in question from getting fully uncovered, in the belief that they, too, benefit from it, and that they, too, lose out if it’s exposed. /snip/

2. It's a good argument, because it's true.
Republicans have gotten a great deal of money from russian super pacs.

4. That is what they are doing to the Dems...treating them all like enemies of the state...
so that's true, we should be doing the same.
I think once they start calling Senate and House Reps to testify in the Impeachment trial, things will start turning. |

5. GOP is both a cult and a collection of power addicts
The obscenely rich include power addicts who are not really concerned about democracy, except in how it interferes with their accumulation of wealth and power. The cult is a means of keeping that power. Elected GOP is caught between, but the gang now in office is the result of culling by the billionaires' club and the cult.
The GOP hasn't been sending us their best in a couple of generations. |

6. That's part of what I was getting at here:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/100212719011
It does a disservice to deny just how corrupt and, frankly, evil the Republican Party is. For cryin' out loud, they are fine with deporting and, thus, killing sick children. |

10. If you can't win people over...
Then either you knuckle under or else you have to beat them.
And 'beating' them in this or that election doesn't really stop their fascist attack on the world. We understood the situation in the 40's. |

11. Cut Republicans out of your life
The voters are also accomplices. Arguing with them is futile. It's best to figure out how to get them out of your life. Eliminate or shorten visits. Cut off communication. It's hard when others are involved, but I think being isolated may help them see themselves better, eventually.
