So much for the old "Tell Senator Jones to stop hating America" bit...

Remember when third party PAC ads were not allowed to endorse candidates, and had to pose as "concerned" citizens who didn't happen to know there was an election going on and just felt it important to urge citizens to call the White House and tell President Obama he's wrong for America?

Well, no longer. More Citizens United fallout, I suppose.

Watching Gary Bauer's Campaign for American Values PAC ad from North Carolina, I was a little surprised to see it end with "Vote Romney/Ryan."

Aside from that, geez it's a lame ad. That doesn't mean it is an ineffective ad with some audience somewhere, but it comes off like one of those burial insurance ads.

The conceit of the ad is that these two conservative mannequins somehow both voted for Obama in 2008, but having Obama "force gay marriage on this country" isn't the change they were voting for.

This couple's marriage seems a little odd and cold, since they actually sit around the kitchen saying things to each other like, "Marriage is between a man and a woman."

It's not effective. It's not good. It's bad. It's laughable.

Incredibly bad. You are not going to change a single mind with such a blunt ad.

Bang. Here's your coffee. Dear. Guess they couldn't afford Harry and Louise; even the actors seem to be stifling laughter, like only in Bauer's repressed imagination would this constitute some kind of plausible coffee klatsch between two plausible heterosexuals in a relationship so plausible that the merest hint of gay marriage upends their entire morning and presumably their (interracial?) marriage. Oh, and yeah, it says right here in the Freeper Post-Gazette that Obama's calling in the National Guard on str8 married peeps to force them into loveless gay marriages... just like Nostradamus predicted!
