Republicans can lie their asses off to protect Trump, but there is a price that will be paid.

...Not complicated, but pretty simple. Trump lies all the time or whole lot of the time. So, to protect Mr. Trump, the Republicans have to lie too. To cover up a lie, you need another and another and so on. Some lies are worse than the original, but it is all a bunch of lies.
...Most families raise their children not to lie. That it is bad to lie and the truth is very important. Business know that, families know that and politicians know that. But to protect Trump who is a pathological liar, Republicans will have to lie. When the next election comes the price will be due: Not only will Trump lose, but the Republican Party will suffer its worst defeat ever. Why? They are a bunch of liars and crooks and will do anything to protect Trump.
...A few will not stand by Trump and will tell the truth, but that is a few. Those few who tell the truth in safe districts will be reelected
... But most will stand by the liar in charge and lie some more. It is like hearing, "Trump did nothing wrong." No proof, etc. etc. etc. A casual observer knows the truth, and when the Republicans and Trump lie about it, a price will be paid.
... Some Republicans know the truth and already have decided to not run for reelection. But many think they can pull off the great lie that Trump is ok and doing a good job..(in spite of the lies) Keep in mind that this is not a few lies here and there. This is lies about anything and everything. Come November these assholes will suffer their greatest defeat for backing Trump. No the Republican Party will not be destroyed, but it will take some years to get back their following.
... Why say that? It has happened before and political parties that have lost big came back in one form, in another form, or the same form as before. In 72 they said the Democratic Party was totally destroyed by McGovern, and guess who won in 76? Jimmie Carter a Democrat.
...Next November is a long time in the future, and anything can happen. We will see. I sure hope I am right and we win big. With that big win, we will be able to do a whole lot that we cannot do now.

I have learned that the truth always wins. It might take awhile, but it always wins. There's an old saying that a lie can travel around the world before the truth puts it's pants on. That may be true, but the truth will happen and those that participated in the lies will pay a very dear price. They always do.

People will compare Mr. Trump and Mr. Obama. How the two talked and interacted with normal people and other world leaders. Guess which one had/ and still has more respect?
.. When people answer that one, there will be another reason to vote for Democrats and not vote for ...them.. You are right, "the liars will pay a dear price. They always do."

3. You're 100 percent correct; but the damned Electoral College/swing state issue still exists.

It’s generally understood that, given the outdated mechanism of the Electoral College, most general presidential elections are won/lost in the so-called swing states, and to date, they tend to favor Republican candidates. (That may all change, however.)

Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin are the "perennial" swing states— they’ve had far too many close contests over the last few presidential elections.

If the Democratic candidate can perform well in most of those swing states, then victory is almost assured. But some will be bitterly contested, so they need to be heavily campaigned.

...Trump is a liar and those that support him are liars. People will pause and say, "I am going to vote for the Democrat cause Trump is an awful liar." Who knows? Maybe I am wrong. We will see in 11 months how things play out. I have always said, "That is the future.., no one knows the future." And we will see if Trump pulls the wool over everyone's eyes some more. But deep inside I feel he won't and can't. I really hope I am 100 percent correct.

Listen to *nothing* but right-wing media and get their news from Facebook (solid Trumpists), versus the 2016 Trump voters who might finally see through all the chaotic posturing, lying and false promises.

Unfortunately, there are still voters who will pull the lever for “their president,” even if he commits some dastardly crime. To these diehard cultists, their sole nihilistic political stance is limited to “making libs cry.”

However, I have a feeling that these diehard numbers have eroded enough to put many of the swing states in play for Democrats.

9. Yes, there are still voters who will try to "protect their president" but that number has eroded.

...Yes, those are your words. Keep this in mind, this is not a 1/2 hour TV show that has one break in the middle. This show has been going on for more than three years.. And Mr. Trump has proved to almost everyone that he is a lying, cheating asshole. What percent will pull the lever for "their president? In my opinion, no more than 25 percent.
... A lot of them, will not vote for Trump by staying home. By next November the show will be going on for close to 4 years. Further, and this is most important, the proof of Trump breaking the law, will convince a whole lot of Republicans who would normally stand behind Trump, to not stand with him. Those people are friends and family of the "diehard pull the lever for their president" gang.
... It is my opinion, that the proof of Trump committing a crime will be so strong that normal Republicans will convince some of the diehards to either not vote at all, or pull the lever for any Democratic Candidate. We will not have to convince a large number of people... because that large number will be convinced by their family and friends, either not to vote, or vote for the "Democrat to save the country ...just this one time." They will add that this vote is....." to save "our country" and that argument will work wonders." and that argument is the total truth!!

... And it will work. Why?...It is so simple. Trump is a crook, lying, cheating asshole
.......................................................... Trump was a crook, lying, cheating asshole..
..............and ...................................... Trump will always be a crook, and a lying cheating asshole.

And Republicans will be bludgeoned with their own dishonesty. Repeatedly. Clearly they aren’t thinking very longterm.

thinking to ourselves that finally we may get some payback, we may get to see justice served, remember that there is someone tuned into limbaugh, and they have no interest in the truth.

I know Matt Gaetz. Well not personally, but the look on his face as he’s braying about how unfairly he’s being treated, etc. I know lots of folks with that same butthurt look on their faces while they snivel endlessly about all the breaks we give to minorities, blah, blah, blah.

I would love for what you predict to be true, I really, really would. But I’ve lived in Utah for a long time, and I’ve watched them manufacturing these RW evil clones in droves. I think we are going to be very lucky if we successfully get rid of the orange turd and manage to pick up enough seats in the senate to contest every single issue, I don’t think we will get a majority.

I’d love a landslide. Simply not going to happen.

7. People don't stay sick of Republicans long enough.

Yeah, Carter won in ‘76 because people were disgusted with Nixon’s antics but Jimmy was blown out in ‘80 and Republicans had two more landslides right after. Clinton wins in ‘92 and Republicans take Congress in ‘94. W “wins” in 2000, starts stupid wars and collapses the economy and people finally get sick enough of them to give us Congress in ‘06 and Obama the Presidency in ‘08. But despite how terrible they’ve been for decades, people give the Teabaggers Congress right back again in ‘10 and ‘12. And then enough people voted for this fucking asshole to allow them to steal the election in ‘16. We take the House last year and if we’re lucky we’ll get the Presidency back next year. But it’s not going to take very long for the GOP to regain their footing. People forget how awful they are every time and they’ll be right back again.

People just don’t stay sick of these assholes long enough. Never more than four years and often less.

This just isn’t a very bright country.

whole lot longer. Maybe 8 or 12 years. The constant flow of information about Trump, "their lying, crook".... will come home for more time. I do believe this change will stick a lot longer, because people will be convinced that the Republican Party enabled and supported the lying, crooked asshole. As the information is repeated over and over again, more and more of those who would not normally come to our side will come to our side.
...Yes, politics flows one way and then another. Only one thing is clear to me. That a large majority will see the truth about Trump and his crowd of "Republican Enablers" that a change will be made.
