(21,848 posts)If exit polls showed that, then there really can't be a question about the vote. At leas that is how I understand things.

(86,607 posts)from there and some who live there said that they vote on paper and that the system is pretty secure including the exit polls.

I think it will go differently here.

(11,306 posts)and Conservative win largely predicted. Also .. has to be one of the more advertised and "informed" votes in UK history.

(19,981 posts)some British TV channels showed some large rooms the size of gymnasiums with long tables where large numbers of people sat counting ballots by hand. I don't know if that's how it's done everywhere.

(11,830 posts)Is there indication of vote-rigging? I believe there was in the first Brexit vote ...

(16,387 posts)Labour didnt lose this election because they couldnt get the vote out in the cities. They lost because they got crushed everywhere else.
Delphinus
(11,830 posts)much like what happens in NE Indiana. We have had a Democratic mayor for many a year (thankfully) but for the past twelve years, our 3rd District representative has been a Republican because Democrats cannot win in the outlying areas.
BannonsLiver
(16,387 posts)In rural areas but those candidates had to to win in a lot of cases. In a big general election campaign it may not be as big of a priority. Whoever the nominee is there has to be some significant rural outreach. Dont need to win in the rural areas, we just need to shave off 3-5 points where the GOP runs up +30 margins. If that happens Trump wins in places like Wisconsin wont happen again, and it could open the door into other states that are on the cusp of going blue.

(21,848 posts)Whatever the outcome of the vote, it appears that the division between groups has become starker and more irreconcilable. Tories may have won the vote but Russia won the bigger picture.

Either N.I. gets a special dispensation, or it also gets independence in the future(further out than Scotland), and possible integration into the R.O.I.

(36,745 posts)Taoiseach Varadkar is being very level headed in this matter. He said today he wants to see NI work in getting power sharing in working order. The EU and UK will solve the border issue, he says. I believe him.

(11,794 posts)They can't choose an independence referendum like Scotland, but they can certainly tell Westminster to go fuck itself.
Interesting times here in the UK.

(36,745 posts)England has broken its promise to Scotland on remaining in the EU.
I will be giving money to the SNP. The Scot in me says help my motherland.
Only hope for Westminster with Scotland now is complete devolution. Giving Scotland complete powers on taxation, budgeting and international treaties may keep it in the U.K.
FM Sturgeon will take a rejection on a Section 30 order to the courts and win.

(5,387 posts)How many of those who are protesting actually voted, the vote was pretty one sided. Of course all the accusations of antisemitism couldn't have helped, Corbyn should have stepped aside knowing there was no way he could win.

(15,411 posts)The people spoke, and they lost big-time. If Labour wanted to win, they should have nominated a moderate like Tony Blair. You don't win with extremes.
