This is baseline until we make nominee. And, then its a matter of how effectively they ratfuck him or her.

(7,431 posts)They have one opportunity to remove disgrace from themselves for all of time. They have one way out. They can vote to remove Trumpy from office. Otherwise, they will forever be described as accomplices with Trumpy's felonies and treasonous actions.
By the time of the trial, that 50% number will rise a little more. Republicans can read, just like Democrats. They know that there is no moral and rational alternative but to remove. They know that the majority of the nation knows that Trumpy is a treasonous criminal and will approve of their vote to remove. Why this issue is so difficult for Republicans to face is beyond words. But if acquittal is coming, the Republican Party is going down, and they may never recover, no matter how many billionaires and Russian oligarchs pretend otherwise. The disgust with the Republican Party will become intense, deep, and unrelenting. Complete fools would know better than to blind themselves to this emerging reality.
Yet Senate Republicans are willing to risk their own demise-- for what?
addendum: The Fox poll likely doesn't take into account the fact that a lot of people don't know that "impeachment" DOESN'T mean removal from office. For a lot of folks, "impeachment" MEANS removal from office. Of course, it doesn't, but that's how the nomenclature is used and corrupted. If those who were polled were asked specifically whether they believe "impeachment" means removal, they would likely say, yes. IMO, that's why we have a segment of the polled population agreeing that impeachment is what's needed without mentioning "removal."

The listeners are once again dead certain that they are both victims and victorious.

(1,990 posts)Every poll and average of polls nationally shows a ~40% vote for Trump and ~51% against Trump. It is baked in. It all comes down to the swing states. Trump will be on the ballot in 2020. Are the Democrats ready for the ground game/ Facebook battles in the swing states necessary to win this thing? God I hope so!
