If it isn't asking too much, please leave a comment here in support of the disabled. Make no mistake, there is nothing honest about this process. They intend to just start throwing people off disability so they can send that money to more billionaires.

What's Happening?

The Social Security Administration has proposed a new rule that would change the way it decides if SSDI and SSI beneficiaries are 'disabled enough' to continue receiving disability benefits.

Social Security subjects disabled people receiving Social Security disability to, what it calls, "continuing disability reviews" (CDRs). A CDR is basically a 'are you still disabled enough' audit. Social Security is proposing a dramatic increase to the number of CDRs it conducts.

There are two different kinds of CDR we care about:


mailer

full medical review (FMR)

Over the next 10 years, Social Security estimates there would be an additional 1.1 million FMRs & 1.5 mailer CDRs.

2. This is being done to take money out of social security. The millions of FMRs and CDRs

will be paid for out of the social security trust fund - then they'll have it unable to pay full benefits in 2021 rather than 2035.

THAT is the objective of this, IMO. Further punishing the disabled is just an additional 'feature'.

This way Trump & Republicans can say they didn't "cut" social security. But that's what this is.

6. I went through a mailer CDR a couple of years ago and it was pretty easy.

Edit: In a few years, my SSDI converts to SS and I'll continue to receive the small VA pension I get now.

7. Reagan did this and my brother died shortly after being denied SS.

He had heart problems related to polio that he had as a child. The doctor showed no mercy when he went to be tested. His hands and ankle's were swollen, he had one arm that was useless, still he was suppose to continue working. The cruelty of this still makes me sick.
