It's like an overloaded logging truck with no brakes

You see it coming down the hill. Barreling actually. A logging truck with a piggyback. Full. Overfilled. Steep hill. Little kids on bikes at the bottom. You just KNOW that truck is going to slow down. Except it doesn’t.

Some people are as comfortable with recklessness as they are with their favorite slippers. They just kind of slip into it like it’s no big deal, so crossing the next line feels no different than the last ten.

Some just graduate to taking liberties. Taking liberties for themselves or taking liberties from others. Like Ivanka parading around a meeting of world leaders in her nepotism spikes or Steve Miller calculating how much Trump would save if he dragged more kids with Cancer out of their cages and threw them in the desert. Easy stuff to just slide into.

Assume that most Republican politicians know there are videos of them saying the exact opposite six months ago than what they just said. Someone will dig it up, show it on CNN. They don’t give a shit.Something else easy to slip into. Then comes the big boy stuff like treachery, espionage, breaking laws, defiling the Constitution, lying under oath, colluding, conspiracy....to name a few.
Just like old slippers. Easy, breezy.

These politicians know their kids are watching.Their wives are watching. It doesn’t matter. They’ll just arrange a photo op outside their church and remind the person with the camera to get a close-up of their flag pin. You know, the flag they wipe their feet on.

It’s so dangerous. So reckless. So un-American. They’re wiping out everything. The Department of Justice. The Department of Education. They’re kidnapping children. Our government is kidnapping children. They’re emulating dictators. They’re undoing everything. Absolutely everything.

We must defeat these fascists. We have to stop arguing over Democratic candidates and set our differences aside. Come together for our own good, for the good of our country.

It hit me recently. For more than seven decades I assumed the Constitution would stop certain people from doing certain things. I assumed laws and judges would be a good back up. I assumed
our politicians wouldn’t cozy up to dictators on national tv. I assumed our president wouldn’t invite Russians into the Oval Office at the same time he kicked American reporters out.

I can no longer assume anything. Recklessness is now Standard Operating Procedure and our entire country is at risk.

When every avenue is blocked, what is the most effective way to get through?

We have the numbers on our side. Now we need the will.

I'm just beginning to realize what it will take to get our government back. Half of our Congress has disposed of their oaths of office.

adult citizens rule, any time they want.

Actually, it just needs those expected to vote Democrat in 2016 before the election was stolen, and a few more. If we'd elected Hillary, she would have carried the senate with her, and even perhaps the house, and certainly many state governments. That's how it could have happened in spite of massive interference by enemies foreign and domestic.

But that's the problem, isn't it? We should expect even more interference and thus to need big turnout to effectively take to the streets and fight for their democracy on election day. Even here on Du many still imagine their choice in 2020 is about which healthcare system or which gender or skin color preference for the president, instead of what it is: whether to have the vote or let it be taken away for good.

...that any election in 2020 will be acceptable to those in charge of our government. I'm reasonably certain that William Barr will not accept a Trump loss. Neither would Trump's supporters.

I believe the Republican leadership is in too far to back out now, even if they wanted, and that most don't. But that they seem so confident that they'll never have to answer for their crimes is scary. They still have to carry it off, though, and for that they have to take our fortress.

As for Trump, I doubt he'd last long at all after a RW takeover. He might be retired, imprisoned or executed, or any combination. Once the vote no longer ruled, they wouldn't worry about his current base. Most would support the winners happily, initially at least, but they wouldn't be allowed any more choice than the rest of us.

At times our descent has reminded me of the old Calvin and Hobbes comic strip story where they sledding down a hill at breakneck speed. Trump and the Republicans are Calvin, and we are Hobbes, trying desperately to put on the brakes before its too late.

This guy is dangerous. This guy is downright scary; and his cult could very well elect him again in 2020. I thought “no way”....until I watched this documentary. I’m worried...VERY worried. I have ZERO faith in my fellow voting citizens and our broken election system.

Nation of idiots!!!
