Some members of the public may oppose impeaching trump even though they think he is guilty.

Because they know that the Senate repugs will acquit him, and thus give him an undeserved "victory".

In other words, some members of the public may foresee a bad outcome and oppose impeachment only for this reason.

2. It *should* be obvious that such a "victory" in the Republican Senate would be a hollow one.

The Republicans have readily informed the world that they don't care about evidence, they've already made their minds up to just quickly "go through the motions" of a trial and then acquit him - with the White House's blessing and assistance.

that is sticking it to the libs.......they don't give a sh*t if they look unprincipled.

They have abandoned to whole family values bee ess scam along with everything else they were selling when O was in office.

Rank hypocrisy, lying, cheating, suppressing voting, is not beneath them.

The hollow victory is only obvious to us socialists.

Trump getting impeached by the House, but being acquitted by his own party who admitted they would run a sham trial, or

Not getting impeached at all and Trump bragging that not even the House Dems thought he was bad enough to impeach?

4. And some members of the public support impeaching Trump BECAUSE the Senate will acquit him

and rather than be a win it will expose in one simple and clear incident the depth of the corruption, dishonestly, oath-violating, and betrayal of the Constitution in each and every GrOPer in the Senate in a way which a vote on this or that bill or judicial nominee never quite captures.

Whichever way things go, the group of people who were correct are going to say "See, I knew it! Told ya!!" and the group of people who were wrong are going to be conspicuously silent.

8. I wonder if we should put off impeachment until we win the senate.

That way we get greater than 50% to vote to convict.
