Sieg Heil, MF45. Even the cult couldn't applaud when he spewed this towards the end of his hatefest:

"Me,...I would have done great in Germany, I would have been a great leader....just like my Dad....My dad...and My dad and I would have made Germany great again...did you know, they love me there, absolutely love me there. My dad and I would have been great in Germany"

Seriously, that thing is trying to turn us into Germany circa 1933 all over again. We're lucky he's so goddamned lazy and incompetent.

Whatever his faults, nothing in his history suggests they include cowardice, not even unwillingness to become mandatory cannon fodder. In those days before antibiotics and for a variety of other reasons, just emigrating itself was dangerous, and he was kid alone in a very hard world. He had work but left for the gold camps. They and the journeys to them were far more dangerous and death rates were frequently very high; disease and privation took most who died.

Years later, after making his fortune, he returned to Germany and married but wasn't allowed to stay because by leaving he was presumed to have evaded his mandatory military service.

I bet this is news to Angela Merkel. He needs to be put into a straight jacket, and confined to a rubber room. Germans have watched in horror at him "making America great again" and have seen more than enough. I grew up in WW11 Britain, and Hitler was despised, just the way tRump is by many people in this country. I LOATHE his orange ass. Impeachment is too good for this s-o-b.

I've been listening to podcasts of brief radio news items about WWII. My father served in the Pacific and had emotional trauma from it for many years.

Everyone in our neighborhood had their own backyard air raid shelter. I was 4 when the war began, nine when it ended. I remember the air raid sirens, the hum of planes, the bombs whistling down. We all had personal gas masks we had to carry everywhere. Just a few years ago I was in London. We visited a re-enactment of an air raid. There was a shelter just like ours and when you went in, the sirens sounded and all the sounds from the war started. I had to leave, crying after all these years. I often wonder if I had PTSD, since my entire life I have dreaded conflict. I can not bear to have people mad at each other, or yelling. War is not the answer to anything, except maybe to people who have never been in one. Liverpool was heavily bombed, because of the ships coming into port with supplies. The trains taking supplies from the docks were bombed.

Severe trauma that never goes away.

That is why it was so sickening to me to read a Sermon from the Southern Baptist Convention comparing Trump to Churchill. Any one who knows History knows Churchill went out to comfort people while the bombs were dropping.

I filled a few ears before I left that Church forever. Such ignorance of History.

had three sons. In areas of Liverpool where people did not have a back yard, there were group shelters. When the sirens sounded, people gathered up their children and blankets and headed for the shelter. Three times they came out of the shelter, to find their home gone. The authorities helped gather used furniture and clothing for them, and they started over. My aunt died at 46, from cancer. I think stress brought that on, I could be wrong. People would take musical instruments into the shelter, to have sing-alongs to help drown out the noise, so the children would not be upset. Londoners used tube stations as shelter, and had sing alongs down there, too. People did the best they could to cope.

all of that with me (us). I'm not certain that history lessons cover Liverpool's tragedy as much as the areas closer to occupied France, Belgium, etc. But sadly, the attacks make military sense, considering the port and rail yards.

From everything I was told and have read, Great Britain's entering WWII was not really a choice, but a proactive move to protect eventual invasion of your homeland. I'm so sorry you and your family had to live with this fear and trauma. I can certainly understand how a re-enactment would trigger tears.

Decades later, my father resisted anything Japanese, especially when the cars emerged in US markets. His trauma was born of being shot at or captured. As a first class seaman, he believed he probably would have either been beaten or starved or worked to death as a POW in the South Pacific.

American serviceman. When he was stationed in Germany, we lived in base housing. Two of the other wives in our building were German. I became friends with them both, and liked them very much. One British wife lived in civilian housing, with their 4 kids. One day she got into a conversation with her landlord. He asked her which part of the US she was from. She told him she was British. He walked away, never spoke to her again and even refused to take the rent from her, her husband had to pay it. Then he stopped letting them have hot water, except on Saturday night, to bathe the kids! They were so relieved to get into base housing. Ingrid and Marita were very different. Ingrid's husband, Bill said we got along better than Ingrid and her sister. Marita taught her kids German, so her parents could take them on occasion.
We never talked about the war, ever.

Germany, for refusing to serve in the military? He went to Canada and opened a brothel instead. The tRump fortune began from whoring out women, so Donny has not strayed too far from his roots. He has always thought all women have a price. Guess it is hard for him to believe that not all women do, most of us marry for love. Love has always been in short supply in Donny's world. Money is the only thing that matters. Sad.
