"SNIP....

MADISON, WIS. -- MADISON, Wis. -- One of U.S. President Donald Trump's top re-election advisers told influential Republicans in swing state Wisconsin that the party has "traditionally" relied on voter suppression to compete in battleground states but will be able to "start playing offence" in 2020 due to relaxed Election Day rules, according to an audio recording of a private event obtained by The Associated Press.

"Traditionally it's always been Republicans suppressing votes in places," Justin Clark, a senior political adviser and senior counsel to Trump's re-election campaign, said at the event. "Let's start protecting our voters. We know where they are. ... Let's start playing offence a little bit. That's what you're going to see in 2020. It's going to be a much bigger program, a much more aggressive program, a much better-funded program."

Asked about the remarks by AP, Clark said he was referring to false accusations that the GOP engages in voter suppression.

Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida, Montana, etc.

Voter suppression. It's not just for breakfast any more. Repubs are doing it wherever they can get away with it.

Over 87,000 voters in the Detroit area were thrown off the voter registration rolls by the republican Secretary of State prior to the 2016 election. That thing "won" Michigan by 10.3K votes. We now have a Democratic Secretary of State, Attorney General, Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court and Governor. All of them women.

And it's true. Voter suppression tends to work for Repubs. 2016 had one of the lowest voter turnout numbers in a while IIRC.

I think the problem wasn't so much voters who switched from Obama to Trump as it was people who voted in 08 and 12 and stayed home in 16. It's why the experienced posters around here keep haranguing people about GOTV. It works.

Hopefully, someday the dirty laundry will be hung out for all to see.

The entire country needs to return to paper ballots. So elections can be audited and not stolen via an electronic device from the other side of the world.

We can all wait for an honest auditable result for as long as it takes after the polls close.

Oh, and of course Citizen United needs to be repealed. It should be fairly clear that it is the dark money pipeline for foreign countries to PICK the likes of Donald J. Trump to do their bidding.

Justice Alito, you are either a clear liar or sycophant when it comes to your denial of the fact that Citizen United was an open invitation to foreign Countries to interfere with our election with billions of dollars. President Obama tried to tell the entire court that was the case in his SOTU address.

Speaking of leaked audio whatever happened to the suppose audio that I believe it was Paul Ryan or someone in his presence said the Russians are paying two people Trump and a former CA congress member. The order was given to keep it quiet it was to stay within the GOP family.

I was there at the polls as a FL Dem pollwatcher and went to the meetings afterwards. There was only 1 Repug poll watcher in 1 precinct & I live in a county that switched from red to blue for the first time in 2018, so it should have been one where they would be, if they were going to be anywhere. Maybe they will do it this time, or maybe it's just rw lies and voter intimidation?
