Pelosi Impeachment Gambit Enrages Trump

Pelosi Impeachment Gambit Enrages Trump
Cody Fenwick December 25, 2019
Reprinted with permission from Alternet

I should say from the outset that I was not a fan of the idea, popularized by legal scholar Laurence Tribe, that Democrats should withhold the impeachment articles of President Donald Trump from the Senate to force Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to force him to hold a fair trial. While I’m concerned as anyone that McConnell just wants a sham acquittal, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi objectively has no leverage over him. McConnell doesn’t want to hold a trial of the president at all, and a later trial isn’t necessarily worse for him, so the delay wouldn’t seem to give Democrats any advantage.

But the tactic is having at least one effect Democrats might welcome: It’s infuriating the president to no end.

It’s not even really clear how far Pelosi is willing to deploy this tactic. She hasn’t explicitly said she’s delaying sending the articles to the Senate. She just said that she has to see what the Senate trial will look like before she formulates a strategy for selecting impeachment managers and officially passing on the charges. And this all happened right before the House was dismissed for its winter break, and the Senate wasn’t expected to convene during the holidays either, so the “delay” could just end up being much ado about nothing.

And yet, Trump can’t stand it.

Holding those articles of impeachment for a while has led to a nice rise in polling data showing an increasing number of voters, now on the upside of 50%, want the senate to boot the orange headed buffoon. Bodes well for 2020. It's also drawn him out and shown his obsession and unfitness for office. He's cooked, just like he said Obama would be if he'd been impeached.

But it's also given several senators a chance to figure out how they can derail McConnell's plans for a quick afternoon vote and get witnesses in front of the senate. It was an excellent strategy. It also leaves time for the other pending matters related to orange headed buffoon corruption still in committee in the house to make its way into another article of impeachment. Stuff the pig, I say.

I think its the best case scenario to just refuse to send them because there is no hope of a fair trial, and then his majesty won't get the exoneration he so desperately wants. Maybe it will even cause him to have a stroke. I think the whole fucking lot of them will have a stroke if she doesn't send them the articles of impeachment.

What is the point if McConnell and his majority have already made up their minds to back Trump. Then Trump can claim he was exonerated. This way at least, it keeps him twisting in the wind - by his own rope.

Does anyone have doubts that Trump is a dictator who is consolidating his power, and that Pelosi is one of the last remaining barriers to complete control?

received. He's given a bad name to all billionaires and millionaires, and rich spoiled kids everywhere. He
proves literally multiple times a day what we all have known about most of these people, that they're spoiled, self-entitled, and brats, who go into a temper tantrum at the drop of a hat.

And we worry about these guys getting their tax breaks and such preserved because supposedly we need jobs and such? Where in the world did we as Americans ever get this idea? After all, Microsoft was started in a garage, and other big companies were started with similar backgrounds. It's time that everyday Americans start taking back our Country and start governing not for the 1%ers, but for all of us.

I had enough of this spoiled brat mentality or 'I alone can fix things' mentality. Yank the damn spoon out of rump's f**king mouth and clean up his mess. Put real people in office who will truly fix the problems we have in this country, and act like adults. Enough is enough.

Fri Dec 27, 2019, 02:06 PM
Dec 2019

She didn't just say she wasn't sending over the Article, which would have been problemmatic. She said she CAN'T send the Articles because she must first appoint managers and she's unable to appoint managers until McConnell lays out the procedure so she knows whom she should appoint. So it's on Mitch to make the next move.

Smart.

I would say she's doing the right thing by leaving Trump twisting in the wind, and refusing to let McConnell make the impeachment go away cleanly.

And I disagree about this maneuver having no leverage on McConnell.

Maybe not enough leverage to get him to let the trial be conducted in an honest way.

But Pelosi is leaving McConnell looking and smelling like snakeshit. And the entire GOP may very well pay a stiff price for so brazenly covering for the orange manbaby.

Biden should just dump it all back on them and beat them with it by going on tv and saying:

'I'll tell you what Little Donnie, I will testify if you will testify or I will quit the race.'

Think about it. No republican will want tRUMP to get anywhere near testifying, because they know he will blow it and out all of them. Also, tRUMP will go into red hot boiling rage at being called Little donnie and he will only incriminate himself more. Meanwhile, the American People will all see what a little chickenshit wussy tRUMP really is by not rising to the challenge, including the trumpanzees.
