You know? I'd like to see Pete B. run for Governor of Indiana. He would be awesome. (Original Post) OAITW r.2.0 Dec 2019 OP
I don't know if he could win a statewide election in very red Indiana. The Velveteen Ocelot Dec 2019 #1

*Buttigieg eyed the job of state treasurer, but his candidacy was a moonshot at best. His opponent, former Vanderburgh County commissioner Richard Mourdock, was the one with the bright future, political blatherers would have told you.'

Also elect Mayor Pete?
Even weirder than the state voting for Obama in 2008 and then going big for Trump.

I agree he would be formidable in 2028. Mid 30's is too young for president.
JFK is my most admired president was considered young even in his 40's.

3. Nice dream

I'm sure he would be awesome in many different roles. But remember that Indiana is an extremely conservative state. He tried for one statewide office there - State Tresurer I think and was easily beaten. And I think this was before he came out. He has been able to win in Sourh Bend because it is liberal island in a sea of red and it is his home town. I think he is making a smart move to get national name recognition now - he is clearly capable of taking on a national role. A Cabinet position? UN Ambassador -- all those languages he speaks!
