I've been watching some train webcams and I see a lot of coal cars. While I hope coal use dies out, I see that hurting the train companies.

1. Yes, carrying coal has been a major part of freight carriers' business

for many years, and much U.S. history's involved with it. Other commodities too.

Freight rail is a diversified business.

2. I still miss cabooses !

3. I dream that trains could once more be a major part

of our human transportation mix. But no one seems to even think about that.

We would prefer to travel by train, but trains take forever. Maybe it will be part of the new green deal instead of more crammed planes and cars, cars, cars.
