https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mcdonalds-junction-city-controversy-kansas-police-officer-fabricated-story-about-being-served-mcdonalds-coffee/Honestly, when I see one of these viral stories, whether it's "****ing pig" or "we don't tip Azerbaijanis" or whatever, my default assumption at this point is that it's made up.
"We found that McDonald's and its employees did not have anything whatsoever to do with this incident. This was completely and solely fabricated by a Herington police officer who is no longer employed with our agency," Hornaday said at a press conference.
The officer, who has not been identified, was with the Herington Police Department for only two months, Hornaday said.

I hate them being used as the foundation of any news story.

(4,066 posts)He made the mistake of embarrassing the department in a non-approved manner. If he'd stuck to the approved methods, like tasing, shooting, and beating minorities the police union and the chief would be defending him.
Please read this with the intended sarcasm and anger I feel.
This guy gets canned because he did something stupid that didn't kill or maim anyone. Other officers do stupid, racist stuff all the time and they get paid administrative leave for months while they get defended by the police union and their departments. Then they go right on killing and maiming. The absurdity of this is lost on most people.

(26,068 posts)There is NEVER any evidence except for the cop and the manager of said fast food place freaking out and firing some low-wage worker who has zero rights. The way that the public AND many on DU just lap up these stories is both appalling and hysterical.
NONE of these incidents have objective evidence -- only the cop's "word."
