Why Republicans would be wise to cut Trump loose?

Win or lose the next election, he is going to maintain control of the Republican Party.

If he wins the next election, they will inherit the whirlwind. He will totally destroy the Republican Party, and maybe the country, in the process.

If he loses in November, he will still be giving orders to the Republican Party from Mar-a-Lago, the Southern White House. Most of his base will still consider him the leader of their Party.

Republicans are in a no-win situation. However, they can lose less if they cut their losses now and begin to rebuild what is left of their Party.

They are on their way to a political calamity of historic proportions.

That is, if he doesn't persuade his party that because of all the investigations he deserves a third term.

The problem is that there are two bodies of evidence (only one fact-based) and Trump's popularity amongst his core is out the roof. They see him for what they want to see him, and only accept information that paints him in the best light. What we discuss here each day on DU never even registers in their minds.

Put another way, the party probably wants him out in no uncertain terms. It's our neighbors that continue to defy reason, truth and their own party's best wishes. And the GOP isn't going to upset the base.

Remembers Fidel Castro, and I'm pretty sure that they do not want their children, grandchildren and great grand to suffer a repeat.

Thirdly, majority of the younger generation of Cubans favor other than Republicans.

We should want them to own him, wallow in his stink and carry it with them for many years to come. The GOP should wear his stink like a tattoo.

The Republican leadership knows how dirty Trump is. If he loses the election and they need to rid themselves of him to move on, they’ll have him imprisoned.

After that, they’ll let everyone know Trump was really a Democrat All Along who just wanted to use the GOP to get out of his debt to the Russians, and his “base” will go along with it.

They’ll lose the most cult like members of his fan base, but I don’t think they’ll mind.

"Republicans are in a no-win situation of their own creation."

Trump just hopped onto the stage they built and gave the audience they gathered what was always promised but never delivered.

Never, ever let them off the hook for that.

The Republican Party will suffer more if Trump is re-elected than if they dump him now and bring in someone who is a bit more honest and could appeal to the Independents and middle of the road.
They could lose the Senate and Presidency if they do this, but I think that possibility is at least as strong that they will lose both if they keep him as their candidate.
Trump has never attempted to expand his base, while, at the same time, alienating more and more people with his mean spirited, angry, hate-filled rhetoric, his callous disregard for the rule of law, and his attacks on anyone who stands against him.
