First, his defensive Tweet about the "dweeb" Parnas: there's no way he didn't understand how connected Parnas was to Rudy. Hyde's whole MO was rubbing elbows with Power, hoping it would rub off.

“I was never in Kiev,” Mr. Hyde tweeted. “For them to take some texts my buddy’s and I wrote back to some dweeb we were playing with that we met a few times while we had a few drinks is definitely laughable.”

Second, who says he was in Kiev?

I believe that Hyde wanted to impress Rudy (via Parnas) and almost certainly took a trip to the Dark Web, where he solicited some Ukrainians to surveil Yovanovitch.

So, he wasn't there, himself. And likely used crypto currency to pay. I hope the FBI got his laptop today. I'm sure this guy isn't bright enough to know how to have covered his tracks.

No doubt he contacted some local talent. For those who don't know, there are plenty of ex-FSB guys running around Kiev, many of them ethnic Russians... and they might have played this fool hoping he sends them some bitcoin as you suggest... but as for actually trying to take out an ambassador... well that would depend on who he dug up.

However, just because he is a drunk incompetent wannabe idiot... the INTENT is the crime... and I think from the tenor of his texts with Parnov, his intent was to be the intermediary for a contract killing of someone Trump was unable to fire even though he tried a number of times (and that story needs more light... Trump orders her fired and even Pompeo is reluctant to do it? WTF?)

2. Remember Rudy's butt-dial? He said he needed lots of money for something.

These people have been paying people to do things or to be silent the WHOLE TIME. It's literally Trump's long-time M.O. See: Stormy Daniels, etc.

3. Hyde would make he perfect fall guy

whether the plot succeeded or not.

Parnas is a lot smarter and connected to the Russian mob. When Hyde was offering up an assassination plot, Parnas told him I will call you. What they talked about is anyone's guess. But the text messages revealed Hyde doing the offering and Parnas not taking the bait.

If the plot was found out, Hyde's drinking, mental instability and eventual psychiatric hold made him a perfect fall guy. He was considerate enough to write texts confirming his eagerness to kill a US ambassador. He is the type of guy this crew would keep around if things went awry. Everyone would point their finger at him claiming he's a drunk and mentally unstable. I didn't take him seriously when he made the threats. IOW exactly what they are doing right now.

...Parnas is trying to save his own life. But if he characterizes the texts with Hyde with any reliability, it implicates him in a conspiracy to harm a US ambassador. He has to say Hyde is just a goofy drunk he never took seriously. Otherwise, he's in as much trouble as Hyde. He claims he didn't think they were breaking any laws, but he knows damn good and well surveilling Yovanovich and participating in a discussion about her possible assassination was a crime.
