Kobe had already had one incredibly successful career and, as President Obama noted, was starting his "second act".
You bet Trump plagiarized it - and badly.

Trump tried to convey the same sentiment, but it came out awkward and clumsy. I guess that is because he can't really express anything positive with sincerity.

(22,976 posts)Melania cribbed from Michelle back in 2016. Multiple lines about necessity of hard work and strong family values, nearly verbatim from the first ladys 2008 address...

(4,750 posts)Given that Trumps original tweet about Bryant lacked all nuance or empathy.
The new tweet echoes everything that Obamas said. In other words, someone on Trumps staff noticed that President Obama said, much more eloquently than Trump ever could, all that a kind and compassionate person would say, and all that Trump DIDNT say.

(63,221 posts)There is absolutely no way he would write something like that on his own. We all know he doesn't give a damn about anyone but himself.

(9,988 posts)Of course a staffer did it anyway, not him. He's completely incapable of feeling or expressing anything remotely like sympathy or compassion.

(4,612 posts)I mean, for any President with an ounce of self-respect, which even the bad ones had up until Trump. They would realize that, to continue to claim to be a halfway decent human being, which they all wanted to do, they have to explain such dishonest behavior.
Not a problem now. Now we get seven of these smaller scandals per day and a few major ones per week, and our POTUS and 40% of the country couldn't care less.
It's normalization of total moral bankruptcy. Awful.
