What a way to observe your birthday.
This, too, shall pass.

(15,286 posts)Like those of us in similar circumstances, he can continue under FEHB for the rest of his life. OPM does advise that federal employees should enroll in Medicare Part A and use their FEHB as a kind of supplement.

(10,214 posts)Ive been told I would have no choice; Id have to get Medicare when I turn 65 and dues would be taken out of my SS. Is it mandatory or optional?
Either way Ill stay on FEHB at least till my son gets thru college since Im covering him as well.

(15,286 posts)I thought the same, that federal employees were kicked off FEHB when we turned 65, but when I became eligible last year, I called CMS and asked about it. Turns out you can stay on FEHB. I found on OPM's website the recommendation to enroll in Part A (there's no extra premium) and keep my current BS/BC to cover the costs over Part A. It's kind of hard to find the info, though. Here's a link that should help you: https://www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance/healthcare/medicare/
I don't think it makes a difference if you are CSRS or FERS.
