(9,070 posts)...and there have been several in the last couple months (I remember one was a security person, and one was an international expert). Regardless, since there were copies of the book floating around the WH and security appears to be slack, just about anyone may have done it.

(73,626 posts)the question is "what were his intentions?" We know that Trump, when under pressure, tends to make numerous phone calls to those he believes are friendly. For years now, he has mistaken Maggie's being polite and agreeable on the telephone for her approval. Thus, when she asked about the possibility of Bolton's testifying, he went off. He believes that if he says a person is lying, others willdiscount what they say (or write).

(721 posts)I think the leak from the White House was intentional. They knew the information would come out when Bolton's book was published, but move out of the the realm of controllable. Exposing Trump now or later is damaging, but having it out now means they can do better damage control while pressuring rep senators to go along.
And what a coup to have this out now before the trial is over AND get away with it.
I agree with Eric Garland, they are knowingly and aggressively acting to dismantle the governmental institutions of the United States as we know them. [link:https://www.democraticunderground.com/100212918117|
Drip, drip, drip. Little by little they are pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable toward chaos.

(73,626 posts)Mr. Garland puts forth some interesting points. There are numerous levels involving this one, ranging from the single-toothed, turkey-necked, confederate-flag tattooed, cousin-marrying gentleman to the slick corporate oligarch. Some of them are pushing an amendment to the Constitution, others want a convention, and some have no idea what the Constitution is.
When you have this, it creates synergy.

(19,137 posts)So Bolton provides no new info on Ukraine, we already had first hand accounts that Trump tied the aid to investigating the Bidens. Why are they acting like Bolton is revealing new things? He isn't as far as Ukraine goes. They're building him up to make it seem like the entire case rests on him, then when his testimony is a dud, they'll claim vindication.

(567 posts)Last night, Rachel Maddow reported that Bolton gave one single copy of the book to the WH for review for publishing and no other copies were out there. Seems that they wanted to create the illusion that Bolton's team leaked it to the media make it look like it was an unofficial release, and Bolton was being vindictive, and not to trust it. WH counsel likely decided to create the Bolton Leak farce as a defensive story and get out ahead of any real release by Bolton and team before any votes occur on witnesses in the Senate trial.
