Here's the Republican primary Senate polls. Looks like our best hope at winning, Roy Moore, is way behind:
And here's the General Election polls, against Doug Jones:
Alabama Senate - Sessions vs. Jones: Sessions 54, Jones 41 - Sessions +13
Alabama Senate - Tuberville vs. Jones: Tuberville 50, Jones 42 - Tuberville +8
Alabama Senate - Byrne vs. Jones: Byrne 51, Jones 42 - Byrne +9
Not looking good at all.

(4,490 posts)Moore was a real disaster for them, and it was still extremely close.

(12,312 posts)We should be worried about these states, and these states only:
1. Michigan
2. Ohio
3. Wisconsin
4. Arizona
5. Pennsylvania
6. Florida

(3,302 posts)Then we lost again in Ohio in 2018 in all state government races but Brown did keep his Senate seat though. Ohio appears to be a lost cause.

(180 posts)In a new Democratic administration in 2021 if he loses the Senate. He would make an excellent choice.

(4,677 posts)For a state so far into the Red Cult, that was a pretty powerful reasserting of basic values.

(18,473 posts)They only voted for a Democrat because it was Roy Moore on the Republican side, and he barely lost.

(6,524 posts)Love Doug Jones, but he had the perfect storm.
1. Roy Moore was already unpopular BEFORE the pedophilia stuff came out. Then it came out and he immediately became the worst and most toxic Senate candidate in history.
2. Doug Jones was an extremely good candidate due to his prosecution of the Birmingham bombers, which has endeared him for life with the African American community.
3. His 2017 special election win was at the absolute hight of anti-Trump sentiment in the US.
4. No Republican at the top of the ticket to carry Moore. If Trump had been at the top, there would have been a lot of Republicans who came out and voted straight party, carrying Moore to victory.

(8,419 posts)And to add, these ignorant racist Mother Fuckers need to be beat down. And it is fucking simple, these fucking ignorant racist Mother Fuckers got their ass kicked by USC in the 70's and Bear Bryant turned on a dime and recruited blacks.
There should not be one black recruit out of the state of Alabama that EVER accepts a scholarship to play at Alabama.

(18,473 posts)Perhaps they liked that down there? He's still losing by 14 points though.

(7,596 posts)He pissed off all the dumb assholes in his state by voting to convict their rapist president.
It was the right thing to do and history will laud his decision, but we all knew it wasn't going to make him popular with knuckle-dragging throwbacks.
