Marta and I saw the matinee tonight. It was worth it. One of our favorite all time films restored on a large format screen.

Indiana Jones, archaeology professor and swashbuckling adventurer, has unearthed many an ancient treasure. But now the very future of the world depends on his finding one specific relic.

(15,031 posts)I stumbled upon this movie back when it was first released. My wife and I were in San Luis Obispo, California, a great little town on the coast an hour north of Santa Barbara. We went to the movie that night not because of the film (we had no idea what it was), but because the theater in town was an old 1920s art deco masterpiece, with a sweeping staircase in the lobby that lead to a balcony above, and a heavy red velvet curtain that rose before the film to reveal the screen.
Raiders of the Lost Ark was the perfect flick for the evening. We were captivated by how much fun it was, and even more taken by how well it complemented the theater. It was the perfect experience. We treasure the memory (it was so serendipitous), and wouldn't want to crowd it.
