President Trump on Wednesday praised his administration over its handling the coronavirus outbreak, as health officials raise alarms about the virus's spread and the White House faces heightened scrutiny over its response.
White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow later in the day downplayed the significance of the outbreak. We have contained this. I wont say [its] air-tight, but its pretty close to air-tight, Kudlow said on CNBC.
The comments came a day after health officials appeared to break with the president and voice urgent warnings about the coronavirus, a deadly disease that has infected more than 80,000 people across more than 40 countries. Trump has continued to maintain that the virus is "under control" in the U.S.
Its not a question of if this will happen but when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illnesses," she said. Disruption to everyday life might be severe."

(1,178 posts)I have the sense this outbreak is hurting Trump politically, especially with the stock market dropping due to it. Because this week not only has he been doing it, but he's had the likes of Kudlow and Limbaugh doing all they can to de-bunk it. They're basically trying to plead to his base that this isn't a big deal, that it's nothing more than the "common cold". It's as if they're trying to keep a ship from sinking. They're full-on damage control mode in regards to it.
