They applaud his anti-intellectualism because they're anti-intellectual. They're emotional rather than rational beings. Don't forget that 60% of Republicans said that universities are bad for this country.

all that comes up is Don Carlos, Prince of Asturias, son of Philip II of Spain - and he was inbred, and fell on his head, and was never allowed any kind of power (they tried him out on advisory councils but that failed miserably.) His cruelty may have matched Orange Judas's, though.
